Thought I would say HI from Ireland. I am not really a knitter but a producer of yarn. Rather slowly. I just love to play with wool at all stages. I used to have my own sheep and will be processing their fleece for a long time as I have plenty in the shed still. All the best to you knitters out there

Hi Mary and Sarah...it is morning here for me in California, so good morning.

I have not tried spinning, but my daughter enjoys spinning and I am a recipient of some of her work. She loves the indie hand dyed yarns and is working with some local crafters collaborating and creating patterns. I myself has selfishly kept the hand spun and dyed for my own use and not to sell. ;0)

I have 3 shops in etsy. This one is for me to sell my markers and get rid of suppiles/stash that I no longer have a passion for. My flagship shop is where I sell my completed items and it is called Ohmay and finally a third where I sell my patterns exclusively and that is called OhmayDIY

Hello knitters and spinners. I'm Efia, and I live in California. I have been a member of this group for several years, but am sorry to say that I have been very absent for the past few. I am hoping to change that and be more active again in my shop too this year. Wish me luck, haha. :)

Anyway, I love knitting and I don't spin, but I kind of want to learn. I LOVE handspun yarn and use it whenever I can.

Hi Ladies. I'm Donna. I currently live in Williamsburg, VA. I've also lived in Louisiana, El Paso, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg (PA), and Germany (near Nuremberg and also up in Bremerhaven. And yes, I'm old!!
I taught myself to knit when I was 10, did some of my own designs 10 years later, then got caught up with family.
If you are a yarn collector like me, then you know about eliminating left over yarns - so I started making doll clothing patterns. At first I did my own printing, binding, mailing them to knitting shops, but it wasn't cost effective. So I'm on ETSY selling them as pdf files.
I am also designing one of a kind knits and would like to open a second shop. m not good at time management, though, and it feels like everything is taking forever.
I did some spinning, but am trying to focus on knitting only.

Hi Donna....wow you have been around. Don't you just love the instant download? Is there a reason you want to open a 2nd shop instead of using sections in your current pattern shop? Will sections not work?

I opened my ohmaydiy shop just for my patterns because paypal has a rate that is lower for small $$ sales. It is called micropayments. For a $6 sale, the PP micropayment fees in the US is .35 vs .41 for the PP regular fees. The only issue is if the customer purchased multiples and the total sales price is over $12, then the fee would be more than their regular rate. Of course the international fees are more.

Thx a lot May for information about the shipping news! Althogh until now I feel that ot is too complicated for me in Italy to send items across the globe! I did it in the foirst time I joined etsy, but then I stopped as it was too difficult. maybe i should have a try again... I make small, funny items.

Thought I would say Hi from Cambridge in the UK, I have a shop on etsy since June last year, I'm a knitter of chicken jumpers, dog sweaters, tea-cosies, baby clothes, & my newest item's are Ladies pleated scarves, but I knit anything.

Im trying at the moment to learn how to crochet, but as I'm disabled, I can't hold the yarn the way you should, and I cant get my tension right, so if anyone has got any help or suggestions how to get my tension I really would appreciate it, contact me through my shop, or on here.

It was great , met loads of other great knitters, was really envious of all their colourful creations.

Learnt loads too , all about designing , checking your patterns , copyright and how to publish your patterns.

sounds like the retreat was focused on developing patterns. Awesome!

I tend to do pattern designing backwards. I first make the item and take very few notes, then if I find I think it is something knitters would like to make, I make another taking more detailed notes. Type it up, make another to test, make corrections, then test once more before publishing. Needless to say, I only create accessories. ;-D

Hi! I am Joanne, from north Texas. I am about an hour north of Dallas and an hour south of Oklahoma. I, too, have lived in several states. Grew up in NY, lived in Minnesota, Massachusetts, Virginia, Maryland and now Texas.

I have a true mixture in my store. Patterns and finished items. I love to make shawls and scarves and hope to be making more as time passes this year. The instant downloads for the patterns are great!

I have only been to Texas once. My husband and I did a road trip to see my daughter when she lived in Austin. During that time my daughter took me to a few yarn shops and a fiber fair outside of Austin. I was floored at how much yarn/fiber there was in Texas being that it is usually hot there. Austin reminds me a lot of the San Francisco bay area where I am from.

I am new to Etsy (December of 2015). I have sold one item. (positive thought) With the new Etsy page design, does that come across as a negative? (she has only had one sale?)
