Freight Forwarding Service - Experience?

Does anyone have experience with a freight forwarding service?

To be specific I live in Canada and I want to ship items from the United States.
Many companies do not ship to Canada so there is the option of registering with a freight forwarder that will give you a US forwarding address that you send your purchase to, and then they will send it from there to you.

I've not used a forwarding service but I have sent packages to customers via them.

Most have been extremely happy with the service.

I'd be sure that they are fully bonded and that your packages are insured as well.

And another thing to consider is that most places you purchase from consider the packages to have been 'delivered' once they arrive at the destination address that you provide .. ie the address of the forwarding service.

So if something happens between there and they actually arrive in Canada then your only claim would be with the service and not the company that you purchased from.

I don't know if this would be an option for you. I have used a company in Niagara Falls NY called CBIUSA for shipping in the US. You can ship anything there without an account and for most things it costs just $6. For bigger things, like appliances, it costs about $35, I think. Downside is that you have to go there to pick up the package. I usually order a bunch of things at the same time and make a single trip from Toronto.
