How do you get and keep subscribers?

(I posted this on a different team as well, if you see it twice, just ignore the second...)

I have been struggling with this as of late, not really knowing what is the most popular way to follow a blog now. I use to use google reader, but since that is gone I just haven't been able to truly recover. I do have some widgets on my blog for various platforms, but I am just unsure of what I really should focus on. I also can't figure out the best way to follow blogs.

So, where do you have the most subscribers or how do you keep track of them the most?

And, how do you follow blogs?

Currently I am using Bloglovin to keep track of the blogs that I follow and I know some people use Feedly.

I use bloglovin as well, but it is super tough to get followers there. I would love to hear what everyone is using as well. I don't feel like I check in there as often so if there is a blog that I really love - I usually follow by email.

I am also struggling to get followers. I think I may need to focus my blog a little more before I can really get them!

I just started an email list for newsletters, but I'm not sure what the "hip" way to do it is either. I think it just gets harder and harder to follow blogs I love and have people following me. There is also the option to "follow" people if you use a Blogger blog, but not everyone is on that.

Alot of people use bloglovin, and the "big Bloggers" who are using custom hosted sites, with wordpress sometimes have custom follow links and code.

I never remember to go to bloglovin, but when I signed up, I remember it being very easy.

As far as how to get subscribers, I think having options for readers to subscribe for updates will help. In addition to having an RSS and Bloglovin' button on my blog, I just added a widget from FeedBlitz for email subscriptions.

I guess there are people who like blog updates emailed directly to them so I'm trying that out.
