This is a critique for Hushcolours on "the art inquirer" blog. I am using Google Chrome as my browser on a Macbook with an external monitor, just so you have an idea about how your blog is appearing on my screen.
First, I am very impressed by how many followers you have, and I love your decision to highlight fine art worldwide in your blog.
I found it a bit difficult to find my way around your site, because there are several areas that are unlabeled, such as the collection of little squares on the top right. They seem like links to sites, but I think you should label them so we know why they are there. Same thing with the image of a magnifying glass over a page on the left: I don't know what that is or how I should use it.
The dark red lettering at the top (your subtitle), should be larger, I tink -- it is hard to read in the red, and should at least be in a larger font size to make it more legible. I am also curious about the choice of black as your background: it seems so harsh and stark, as well as very modern, in contrast with your banner, which is more antiqued and gold. I wonder if some kind of patterned background might suit your aesthetic better?
I was also puzzled by the purpose of the blog, until I found the "About Me" wayyyy down on the bottom right. I would suggest moving that and the archives up to the top in order to help your reader understand your blog's purpose and history.
OK, now the hail of bullets (to quote one of my favorite TV-show reviewing bloggers):
-some of your images on the bottom right (under the Bump widget) are broken.
-I am not sure why this link is on the right side of your blog, especially since it is not live: google333103032793b1ca.html
-some of your widgets on the left have white backgrounds, which stand out glaringly against the black -- is there a way to make your background consistent?
-there's a link to Art classes in the left column that is so tiny it is nearly impossible to read -- enlarge the font perhaps?
I'd love feedback on my blog,
http://www.stitchingincircles.blogspot.com. I have gotten some critiques from Intermission earlier, some of which I have implemented. I do intend to improve my banner soon! What do you think of my font now? Is it too big and blocky?
