What items in your shop have been inspired by your reading? Or if you have many, what are based off of your favorite books?
I don't have that many literary soaps at the moments, but I do have:

Captain Wentworth bar Soaps-

Re: Book Inspired Items in your Shop

I'm forever an Elinor.
Great necklaces! My Elinor and Marianne soaps and perfumes will be in my shop soon.
What kind of scents would be Lizzy Bennet to you? I'm thinking something very light and fresh.

Re: Book Inspired Items in your Shop

thanks!

I agree about the light and fresh scent. Whenever I think of Lizzie, I think of the scene where she walks to visit her sister at Netherfield Park and gets dirt on her dress. Natural, intelligent and a bit of adventure :)

I know exactly what you mean, her 'hem six inches deep in mud.'
I ended up covered in mud the other day when I was walking by the creek trying to get some pictures, I started sinking and was filthy up to my knees-- I kept thinking of that quotation actually.

Re: Book Inspired Items in your Shop

Just listed Marianne as the first of my literary heroine soaps:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/70600261/marianne-moisturizing-bar-soap-vanilla

I have Elinor and Emma on the way from the Austen canon as well as Jane Eyre from Charlotte Bronte's book-- I have some Lizzy Bennet ideas as well.
What heroine would you like to see interpretted as a fragrance? Madame Bovary or Anna Karenina for a nice "fallen woman" addition?
Who would make a good perfume?

Karenina is a great idea! Hmm... I don't know if you like Alice in wonderland, but an Alice would be neat. Also, a red queen one would be cool too.

Re: Book Inspired Items in your Shop

I feel like I'm smothering this thread, but I've been working on new ideas (I hope to have an Ophelia ready in a week or two-- thanks BookGeekery!)

I just like getting feedback and seeing what scents other people might equate to these characters, what they'd like to see. I'd like to ask your opinions on two new character soaps I had an idea for: Irene Adler and Jay Gatsby.
Adler becasue I already have a Holmes and Watson-- thought something mysterious and lovely for her might be nice.
Jay Gatsby because I love The Great Gatsby and thought I might do some research for popular man scents from the 1920s.

What fragrances do you think would suit these characters?

I'm glad you liked my Ophelia idea! :) I regrettably don't know much about Adler to add my two cents, but Gatsby... totally cool idea. I think a lot of people can relate to Gatsby, such a popular book...what an excellent idea, i look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Re: Book Inspired Items in your Shop

I love the idea of a Jay Gatsby soap! Maybe something spicy but not too heavy? It's so great that you feaure "male" scents...it will make bday and christmas shopping for my boyfriend so much easier! Especially because The Great Gatsby is one the few classic lit books he likes (he's into scifi, Lee Child).

I'm planning on having a spring sale but now that I'm moving back to central PA this April, should I have the sale before or after the move? What do you all think?

Re: Book Inspired Items in your Shop

Hmm... maybe before the sale so you won't have all your products to lug around and worry about? I'm a PA dweller too!
I've been trying to work in more 'man scents' because I noticed there aren't as many of them on the market and many women like less feminine scents as well (I've been using my Watson soap and cologne-- I love Bay Rum!).

Re: Book Inspired Items in your Shop

I agree, before the move would easier, probably. less items to pack that way! Hey I'm in PA, too. Lol.

And morning valley, I agree, I wouldn't mind using a "man scent" even though I'm female--as long as it doesn't smell like that tide forest laundry detergent...that stuff is awful lol

Re: Book Inspired Items in your Shop

Before the move it is! I'm happy to be moving back closer to my friends and family in PA but will miss New England. I'm moving to a lovely little town called Bellefonte, right outside of State College...I'm excited because it has a Victorian Christmas festival/crafts fair every year and I'm hoping to be a part of it.

Classically Romantic- your necklaces are so pretty! I think I like the "Key to Time" one best but I'd wear them all :)

My brother used to live in State College, he loved it, but is currently in New Jersey.

Classically-- I love that you used Jane Eyre as your back drop!
