What's your favorite.

Hello everyone. I look forward to looking at everyone's beautiful dolls. How about we get to know about each other a bit. What was your favorite doll that you ever made. Tell us about how and why you made it, and why it's your favorite!

My name is Jennifer. My favorite doll of all I've already descibed in the "glad you are here" thread so I won't tell about it again here. But other than that, my favorite is one I just made for a co-worker. She was a cloth victorian "madam" dressed in red velvet and black feather trim, with red feathers in her hair. She was wearing costume diamonds and rubys on her jewelry. She's my favorite because I tried out making a new torso pattern and she is one of the fanciest dolls I've done. She had personality too! I miss her already.

I'd love to hear about your dolls!

Re: What's your favorite.

Hi. My name is Ellen. I opened up this team after being so surprised that it didn't already exist before I came along. I'm very new to Etsy.
Well, I have to say, my favorites were the African fabric dolls that a teacher commissioned me to make. She even bought the fabric and then surprised me by paying for the dolls anyway and insisted i keep the payment. I bought more African fabric and Asian as well.
Thanks, Jennifer, for getting the discussion going. Your favorite doll sounds AWESomE.
I hope we'll hear from you out there.
Sincerely,
ellen

Re: What's your favorite.

The first time I came across a Primitive Raggedy Ann doll I fell in love with them. That is when my doll making days begin. And about a year later I taught myself how to design my own dolls. Still love the Raggedy Ann's but I think my favorite one was my Delilah fairy doll. If you would like to see a picture of her she is in my feed backs.

Re: What's your favorite.

I have had so many favourite dolls I have made over the years, each one is special, sometimes I hate to see them go to new homes, but really how many can you keep. I have been with Etsy since May 2009, and have not sold a thing, yet I have sold many many from my actaual shop. Would appreciate any help from anybody. I am also very excited in having a look at everybody elses dolly creations, always interested in what others are doing.

Re: What's your favorite.

Hi Sandra
I love your work it is awesome! I'm not an expert and I'm sure someone that has a lot more sales then me could tell you more what to do. But by my own experience I had to come down on my shipping and eat some of it. Since then I have been selling a little more. I do better at craft and art shows with my dolls and I sale them on the big E**y. My christinasuniquedgn and my jewelry supply hasn't been here that long. But my christinasprimitivehouse has been here for a long time and I just more or less gave up on selling my primitive dolls on it and my Halloween dolls. So I have converted it more into a supply shop. I sure wish Etsy would let us change our shop names. Any who back to your dolls. You have a very nice shop and product I think I would try and get my shipping cost down and renew quite a bit.
I hope this helps some.

Re: What's your favorite.

Hi Ragamuffin,
My very favorite of your dolls is the Bird Lady on your own website. I think your large dolls would sell on etsy. I made one of your etsy dolls a favorite.
We need to try to help each other sell our beloved handcrafted items. We are, after all, all in the same Etsy boat.
There are so many teams out there. We, in this team, are doll-lovers, in particular.
How do you publicize your own shop that you sell from? I would like to learn from you.

Re: What's your favorite.

Hi Girls,
You both have some great stuff, had a look at both your shops, really interesting to see other peoples immaginations at work. My problem is I ship from Canada, very expensive to ship from here. I have sold stuff on e bay before and I usually end up adding additional postage to the package when I get to the post office. I know it sounds high my etsy shop, but I do offer to reimburse if I am over. Oh well maybe I will have to lower it a bit, to get things going. My own shop I would put advertisements in local tourist magazines and a sign at the end of my road. However I moved last year and I have a new address so I will be starting over, don't know if thats good or bad.

This is my favorite doll, I made her for Christmas for my daughter, if you read the post you'll get the whole story:)

My second favorite was this little guy http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=28449&id=104221619637205 not my typical work, but it was a custom that really stretched me artistically, I think we all need a good challenge sometimes:)

Re: What's your favorite.

My favorite doll was called Missy Mae. See her here: http://www.etsy.com/transaction/9901125

She struck a cord with me. Her little ice cream bar reminded me of my childhood and I really loved her expression. It was also the very first doll I sold here on Etsy.

Re: What's your favorite.

Well hello everyone. Glad to join the team.
I love doll makers and I always loved dolls.
My mother used to make (sewing and crochet and knitting) dollclothes for the only doll I had for years. She was a hard plastic one, short and a little chubby and a real sweety.
I started making dolls after I saw this beautiful country doll in some magazine but I could not afford to buy her, she was a little too expensive for my budget. So I went to buy some fabric and started sewing. I was amazed at the result. I I was a born dollmaker and I even did not know it!
I made many more, gave them as presents and decorate my home with them. They all keep me sweet company. That's where it all started.
I opened a store on Etsy about 1 year and 2 months ago not believing I would sell. But so far I sold 27. Not bad. Actually exciting!
I was told the most successfull seller on Etsy did not sell anything for the first 6 months and here I sold already maybe then.
Anyway even though I do sell very slowly it is a hobby and have patience and fun while making the dolls.
I have some really nice feedback and a store full of dolls to choose for anyone who is interested.
Good luck to all of us!!!!!
Ella
