How do you store your inventory?

Hi,
I'm wondering how everyone stores their inventory of completed items. I've got mine in individual zip lock bags, which are then piled in a large plastic bag. Needless to say, it's a pain trying to find anything.
I've got my yarn stash in three 20 gal plastic bins, which I can't come close to getting the lids on, and am thinking about getting another for inventory.
Anybody have a different method?
Thanks
Margaret

Re: How do you store your inventory?

My yarn and unused fabric in a plastic curver box and a sewing bag (which was a gift).

Completed items

I store my smaller items in a wooden chest (another gift), my garments in plastic bags at the moment and some items in a woven storage basket.

The zip lock bags seem like a good idea. Thanks for sharing.

I store my yarn and completed crochet and knit items in bins also.

I use zip lock bags to mail them in.

Re: How do you store your inventory?

I store all my completed inventory in clear plastic totes, with each tote containing only one type of item. For some items I'll have more than one tote.

This way when I'm doing a craft show I have everything ready to go.

All of my yarn inventory is stored on shelves in one room, sorted by yarn type and colour. On occasion I get behind in stocking the shelves, especially when multiple orders arrive on the same day.

My personal yarn stash is stored on its own shelving unit in clear plastic totes.

Everything is tracked on an Excel spreadsheet so I can easily see what I have and where its located.

Soap dishes are all stored, sorted by wood type, colour variant and size in the workshop.

Re: How do you store your inventory?

I have 4 large rubber maid bins and 12 large mesh tote bags like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pop-Up-Laundry-Hamper-Whitmor-Flexi-Frame-Large-Basket-Mesh-Assorted-Colors-...
full of yarn, sorted by brand, not to mention various other bags of yarn and an entire closet full on wire shelves. Finished items are also stored in tote bags. Each item is washed and dried before shipping out.

Re: How do you store your inventory?

So many good ideas! Right now all my yarn is stored in a big mesh laundry bag, all colors together. My completed projects are stored in a clear bin (everything together. In a month or so I will finally have my own craft room (finally) so I can put all my crafts in there and I'll finally have room to organize - can't wait - been waiting years for this! Keep the ideas coming. I love reading through this thread.

Re: How do you store your inventory?

My husband bought me my own shed. He put up shelves and pegboard walls. I purchase hooks from a craft store that went out of business. I have the shed set up like a store. So when I finish a project, I put it in a clear bag and it goes on the shelf. When I sell something on etsy, I just take it off ther shelf and bring in the ticket with it. The ticket then goes into a small container for item s to be made and put back in the shed

Cindy,
I am sooo jealous. And I like your method of keeping track of what needs to be re-made. Unfortunately, we haven't had enough sales yet to have to worry about it. But I'll definitely keep it in mind.
