Why is Etsy asking that I pay $.24 cents of my bill before they will let me buy a shipping label?

Confused as to why this is necessary. I like to pay my bill all in one lump sum the first of the month. I am not overdue. It won't let me purchase a shipping label until I pay this small amount. ???

I had that problem today also. According to my note at the top, you cannot print a lable if your balance is over $50.

My understanding is that each shop has a shipping "budget" meaning that your Etsy bill cannot exceed a certain amount in order for you to purchase a shipping label through Etsy. Every shop is different. My bill must be below $10 before I can purchase a label. (As you can tell I'm not a top seller.) I believe as you purchase more labels your budget will be increased.

ETA: Once you have it, it shows on the same page as the mark as shipped button. I think that's the sold order page, but I'm not sure. I haven't had a sale in a few days so I don't remember. LOL

I didn't join the shipping improvements team and I have access to shipping on Etsy. Although, I guess my balance has to be below an arbitrary amount before I can use it! LOL! BTW, my balance is not above $50.

Mimi I think they are slowly rolling out the ability to print labels to those with DC. But if it hasn't been rolled out to your shop, you can get it by joining the shipping improvements teams.

I like the idea of being able to print the labels from Etsy but it seems ridiculous to pay a balance of $5 and change on my bill in order to print a label for $1.64. I've only used it once, just to see how it works.

I love printing shipping labels from ETSY's sold order page. I don't get confused about which label I am printing for which order.
But things keep getting in my way.
No money in my account because ETSY sent it all to my checking account.
Told I can't print a shipping label because I owe more than $25.00
My account is current. What do people do who have a large volume of sales?

I couldn't print a label and my balance was slightly over $15.00. I decided to continue using PayPal to ship.

Thats why I will never (never say never) use the shipping labels from etsy. I just use paypal.

I have had to pay my bill a couple of times this month to print shipping.
I also like to pay one lump sum at the end of the month. I always pay in full on the first of the month. This will just add to my bookeeping time at the end of the month which I am dreading.
I hope they can make this better because I like using the Etsy shipping but paypal is more convienient for this reason.

Same here Beth a. I have no desire to use such complications. Paypal takes the funds from my bank account linked, I don't have to pay my bill but once a month, which is what I prefer,

When I do search ads, guaranteed my monthly fees are going to be over $50. That alone makes it impossible to use the shipping label tools.

Plus, I like paypal, it's easy to use

I think this is so silly and I was pretty bummed when I tried to print a label but had to pay my outstanding Etsy bill first. I will just cut and paste into a paypal label. I am not screwing up my paperwork and paying my etsy bill multiple times a month. >:(

I have found it is much more convenient to print my shipping right here on Etsy. I don't understand the below $50 limit I have either. I always pay my monthly bill, and paying in between is not ideal.

Also, I print using self stick labels and this now uses one half side, which will save on ink, I just need to order a label that will allow me to use the other half.

I like it, but juggling the finances is different and harder to keep track of when busy.

Is the pricing the same for shipping from Etsy as it is from PayPal? I have been using Direct Checkout now for a couple of months, but have never tried shipping from there...I just keep using PayPal because I'm comfortable with it.

With that said, I just created an account with Stamps.com because I want to see if the First Class international shipping works from there without having to go to the post office. There's a little bit of a learning curve there, but it's well worth it if it saves that drive to the post office!

Paypal is the best as far as I'm concerned. It allows First Class labels and USPS doesn't. I have never tried a label from Etsy and I won't. Paypal takes directly from my bank acct and I can write it in my register as a purchase. I don't keep a balance in Paypal as I transfer all sales immediately into my bank.

Exception is Direct Checkout which doesn't allow immediate access. Oddly, neither does Paypal, but the money sits in my bank in the interim... At least I can write it in.

The other day when I was trying to create just one shipping label on Etsy, I was told I had to pay about $4 on my bill first, which I did. When I tried to print again, it told me I had to pay another $3 first. The third time I tried to print, I was told I had to pay $0(?!) first. Frustrating. Time consuming. Counterproductive if the goal is to streamline services.
