Etsy Profile & Direct Checkout

Do customers still have to have a profile on etsy to purchase through direct checkout. I ran a campaign on my facebook page and had a number of clients ask to purchase but didn't want to use paypal and didn't want to have to set up a etsy profile/account. If this is an option I know my shop sales would increase. Just curious if I can direct them to just use DC or not.

They still have to open an etsy account. There is no guest checkout. I know that a lot of sellers would love it if Etsy had guest checkout.

Hmmm... thanks Nora - would be a nice feature; some people are just done with having an account at every place they shop (feels like over-exposure, perhaps). Others (me!) have given up ... I'm all over the internet, though I try to exercise some caution!

I'm all over the interwebz too and hate having to remember passwords and such. I love sites that have guest checkout and tend to shop at those more often. Maybe we will have it some day.

That is what I assumed but sometimes changes happen and I seem to miss the update. Thought I would ask, but since the answer is no, I would love to suggest the "guest checkout" that Christin & Nora mentioned above. I think that would be a fabulous idea!

artfire has guest checkout. ( I have an almost dead shop over there)
90% of my customers over there are guests.
consequently there's no feedback for them.
and they all have to email you.
makes it really difficult actually.

Looks like Matt misspoke and has since changed his post. It originally said Guest Checkout and not unconfirmed account.
