When using DC mailing I can't find where we do insurance.

I always do insurance when mailing something that cost more than I can afford to lose .... but when going to print my lable I can't find where to add that ......

I am mailing 1st class ..... need to add I live in the bounies where my maillady picks up all my packages, so no running to the PO just for adding insurance .....

Is this able to do with DC shipping? If not I'll go through paypal and do it and wonder how this will effect getting my funds through DC ...... thanks

Ok, could someone tell me what advantages there are to direct checkout? I had thought once I shown it had been mail, I could have funds put into my bank ..... Now I'm already out pocket money for postage and insurance, and even etsy fees ..... just to find out I have to wait even longer for the payment??

I have a feeling this is not something I need. I have a very set income and I so depend on the money from my sells to buy supplies and pay all fees for listing, FVF, postage and such ...... if I have to wait and hold my breath, I have a feeling I can't do it ..... I need the money to buy more supplies so I can list and sell, I can't dish out postage and all on my own ...... I know this sounds like a poor-pittyful-me story ..... well it is. :)

It's just me here, widow and on a very small fixed income that has to be used to pay for everything I need in life to make it day to day. Someone please tell me if I'm doing something wrong here with DC, If I'm not, please tell me how to pull out but fast.

All the information about direct checkout and the initial 10 day verification and the 3 day hold after payment, etc, etc, etc are all explained in the terms you agreed to when you activated direct checkout for your shop. You may want to deactivate it and and go back and read up on what is involved and then decide whether or not to use it.

FYI, if you have used Paypal to ship your item, make sure that you have still marked it shipped on the Etsy invoice as that is necessary to release any funds. Are you in the 10 day verification window? Has 3 days passed since the order was placed? Does the money show up in your shop payment account as available for deposit - if so, you can request an earlier deposit than the scheduled Monday sweep.

Second party Insurance is available on the App-ShipSaver's. It is downloadable from the apps area of Etsy. I use it for both Etsy and Ebay. I have not had a problem. You have to fund your Etsy account but it is only$5 to start. I just reload the$5 as necessary. There are some exculsions of countries and items so be sure to check that out.

PS it is cheaper to buy Ship Saver's insurance than the post office's insurance.

Linda, I completely understand the cash flow issue!!! But I am hopeful that accepting DC payments will increase my sales. I saw it immediately within the first few dasy it was active on my account. I had 5 large sales within a weekend and that has never happened. And remember, gift cards can only be used in shops that accept DC payments.
