Shipping to a P.O. box

When a buyer uses DC it means they are paying by CC. The shipping address is a P.O. Box. I am almost certain that you cannot use a P.O. Box address for your credit card. I remember being told when I was getting a credit card that you had to have a physical address, not a box number. Does anyone know about this?

So, what I'm wondering is, the address on file with etsy by this buyer is a P.O. Box and from what I understand, I should ship to that address? It's the only address I have so, it seems logical that is where it's going. I have never shipped to a box before. Are there any problems in doing this?

Probably a dumb question but I had to ask.

Re: Shipping to a P.O. box

I have a PO Box as an address for my business CC.

Some people do not have mail delivery and only have a PO Box address.

Some banks will let you have a "front facing" PO Box address while having a non PO box address in the bank file. So you could have someone use a debit card as a credit card with a PO Box address.

I get mail to my PO Box just fine. It is actually a bit "better". Mail gets delivered to the Post Office and goes directly to the user's locked box. No leaving it in a mail box or on the porch.

Re: Shipping to a P.O. box

I use USPS for my shipping so I wouldn't think a PO box would be a problem, but I think with UPS or FedEx you are correct on needing a physical street address - I don't think those venues will ship to a PO box.

Thanks for the responses. I guess there's no problem on this.

I agree, I wouldn't worry. Some small towns don't deliver the mail, people have to pick it up.

Kim, I think you're correct. As far as I know, neither UPS or FedEx will deliver to PO boxes. Never mind that the USPS actually contracts with both companies to carry the mail from point to point. LOL!
