Possibility of tiered DC pricing based on volume?

Is Etsy considering pricing tiers for direct checkout? I currently pay a lower PayPal rate due to my PayPal volume which makes Etsy DC more expensive for me. I would hope Etsy would be open to this seeing how you would still be making money off listing and transaction fees. Maybe these other fees could also count towards the pricing discount encouraging more sales and listings? Just an idea :)

Yes,

That sounds like a great idea, and maybe the incentive for others to go exclusively with DC for payments. We turned off paypal over a week ago with no regrets and sellers like me should be rewarded. :-)

Re: Possibility of tiered DC pricing based on volume?

I posted a similar question for Marc Hedlund in his weekly Q & A's, but am thinking it may be more appropriate here:

Currently, Paypal offers a tiered fee schedule that is dependent on the amount of sales made for the month. Also, Paypal offers a different tiered schedule for lower priced items (I believe it's for sales under $10). Is this something that Etsy would consider with Direct Checkout?

Thanks!

Re: Possibility of tiered DC pricing based on volume?

I asked the same thing over a week ago:

As a "volume" seller, paypal provides me with significantly cheaper rates than their standard 2.9% +.30 as I do more than $3000 a month in sales. However, I haven't been able to find any information as to whether or not Etsy offers some sort of business or tier pricing for this sort of situation? It seems to me that Etsy will be charging me .25 + 25% regardless of the level of money being deposited. This probably makes DC an attractive choice for a number of sellers here but once you cross the $3000 threshold, paypal becomes a much more lucrative choice for me.

Am I missing information somewhere regarding tier pricing? I suppose that the real problem becomes that in splitting orders now between paypal and Etsy there is a possibility that I won't meet the volume requirement on paypal, which would effect my rates there and cause me to be spending a greater percentage of my money on processing fees overall by offering both options. Any information you can point me to is greatly appreciated!

------------------------------------------------

Hope they consider this because as a small business that supports my household from my income the extra money could be better spent elsewhere for me. It makes DC a less attractive option.

Re: Possibility of tiered DC pricing based on volume?

I don't believe there is any volume rate in place at this time. Like you mentioned, if there is a volume rate it might be hard to meet anyway if splitting between paypal and direct checkout. I am 100% direct checkout, and the free month they offered, more than compensated for any difference there may have been in fees.

I seem to be moving along as normal since dissabling paypal about a month ago. I still get requests for money orders, but we had to stop taking them, as they seldom followed through and sent them. I like having one processor for the money and I think of the two DC works for more than Paypal. After all, all of the sellers that like to pay with paypal when they make purchases can simply use their paypal debit card on DC.
