Please help ...I need advise

Hello!
I really hope somebody can help me with this.
A couple of days ago I had a substantial sale of one of my most limited and expensive products.
It was an international sale, to Malaysia.
I sent the package Friday afternoon and Saturday the buyer shows up as not being registered with Etsy.
How odd is that??
What I am fearing is that now the buyer will do a charge back and I will just loose my money and they will obviously keep the product. Which will be horrible since the item was worth close to $500.00.
Unfortunately there is no USPS package intercept for international mail
Can anybody advise on what can I do??
Can Etsy help me in this case? Can they intercept a chargeback if I can prove the item as delivered?
Please advise. :(
Thank you very much

Did you insure the package? Was it purchased through direct checkout or paypal? Probably direct checkout since you posted here.

It sounds like for some reason, the buyer closed their account with etsy. I don't know why this is but it is not necessarily a problem. Since the account is closed, I don't see how they could request a chargeback through direct checkout. As far as I understand the way direct checkout works, you are protected.

Thank you Mary, but chargebacks are requested though your credit card company. The can just claim dissatisfaction and they can get their money back and keep my product.
:(
I hope this doesn't happen

Re: Please help ...I need advise

I don't think they can do this and win a chargeback under the dc seller protection. I remember reading how etsy protects sellers who use dc and if a case is open against you, as would happen if the buyer claims they didn't receive the item or another reason, that etsy protects you if you can show you shipped the item. Otherwise, anyone could just make a purchase and not pay for it. I think etsy would be the one to eat the chargeback since they told you it was okay to ship it. They would have to deal with the credit card company. I think that's what seller protection is all about? If they were to claim dissatisfaction, they would have to return the item before they were entitled to any kind of a refund. I think they would also be responsible for paying the return shipping charges, legally anyway.

Re: Please help ...I need advise

There are only certain countries covered with seller protection. I would check into that, but if memory serves me, Malaysia is not one of them. We only ship to the short list of countries that we have protection with.

I get worried from time to time, and it is usually for nothing, and everything works out fine.

Good luck!!
