What is customers name

I have recently turned DC back on and I can't figure out something.

When a customers purchases something to gift someone and they have you ship to the recipient and their account name is not their name, how do I know how to address them in a convo.

When this happens with PayPal I just go look at the PayPal receipt and see who the purchaser was. But with DC I don't see the purchasers name. Am I missing something?

It is on the receipt to the right by their etsy name. Some people on etsy don't release their name. In that case I don't use a first name in correspondence

Yes, I just have an Etsy name and a shipping address that is a gift, so I have no idea who to thank.

This irks me, as well. A great deal of my items are purchased as gifts. I want to be able to send a 'thanks' note with the buyer's name. It can't be that tough to include the buyer's name in the transaction, Etsy. C'monnnn. ;)

I just address them by their shop name/user name if I don't see anything else.

I had a bride put quite a few items on her wedding registry, and I couldn't tell her who had gifted what. She knew some of the screen names, but not all of them. I emailed them to ask for their names, but not all of them responded.
