Help with shipping label

I finally decided to try the shipping option and print my own label from Etsy. But it cost LESS than it does at the Post Office, for the same weight. The delivery confirm is included? but I didn't see an option to pay for it??? and in the note to buyer there was no place for a confirmation number.
Did I miss something? Anyway, I chickened out and cancelled it. Could someone tell me what I missed?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Help with shipping label

You get a discount when you purchase postage online compared to in person at the PO. Delivery confirmation is included in the price.

When you use the Etsy label feature it automatically inputs the tracking in the notice.

You didn't miss anything. It is cheaper, you do get delivery confirmation and Etsy handles inserting the tracking number into the notice.

Thank you so much. I guess all I had to do was ask. I do it now and it now. Awesome!

Re: Help with shipping label

I know... it freaked me out at first, too! It's like "what? Not only can I ship from home but it's CHEAPER? There has to be a catch." Nope... no catch. At least that I've seen since I started printing and shipping from home 2 weeks ago. Woo hoo! Congrats on making the jump and saving yourself a lot of trouble and money. :)

Re: Help with shipping label

I printed my first mailing label on Etsy today and was very happy with the results. It is great that tracking info is included in the shipping notice.

Re: Help with shipping label

I'm been using stamps.com and this is so much easier. With the other system I was copying and pasting. All of the rest of the info, as compared to stamps.com, is the same including the fees. Very pleased so far with Direct Checkout.

Re: Help with shipping label

Yayy! I did! It was easy, and it's on the way....I have another question...is there a difference between parcel post and first class mail? I shipped my package first class mail....It is a small jewelry item, in a small box and then in a mailer....So, I don't know what it is parcel post, or first class, or does it matter???
Thank you in advance.

Re: Help with shipping label

Yes, parcel post and first class are different. For small items first class is your best bet (13 oz and under).

USPS.com is a pretty good resource. Here is an overview of the different mail services they offer:

Re: Help with shipping label

We love you Pinch!

Also, you may want to check the expected delivery time if that is important to you. Parcel Post usually takes a much longer time to arrive compared to First Class. Sometimes Priority arrives the same time as First Class and there would be no advantage to pay more by shipping Priority if it can go First Class. So, check that. The information is on the usps website.

Re: Help with shipping label

Hush, you're making me blush. I just appreciate all the information and help I've gotten from reading the teams and forums, happy I can return the favor back sometimes.

And good information to bring up about the delivery times, Mary.

Re: Help with shipping label

Is 1st Class mail trackable? I thought that it was not and that was the only difference between 1st Class and Priority. I've been shipping Priority because I really need/want that tracking number.

Also, printing shipping labels is awesome! I just wish I could print UPS labels too. And if you do print your shipping label through ETSY,and for some reason don't use it (my printer ran out of ink so I had to take it to the PO), ETSY will refund the shipping to you. It's wonderful!

Re: Help with shipping label

So I just checked the tracking for that shipment and it is really easy, you don't even have to leave Etsy! How cool is that?

Re: Help with shipping label

The answer is yes Dina! Any package with a bar code can be tracked.
