Emails from Etsy regarding shipping?

Hi DC Admin! Is there any chance that etsy is now sending out emails asking customers if packages have arrived? I'm wondering if this is somehow related to sellers using DC? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

I have not heard that. It sounds like they might do that if there is a dispute; I don't see any other reason for them to do that.

I would assume they would only do such a thing in a dispute. I believe it is the only way to investigate. That would be awful if they did it for every transaction. Customers would leave here if they hate spam as much as I do. :) I am sure etsy is smarter than that.

I know I get them from ebay sometimes and I hate it I hope etsy is not implementing this annoying spam

I have my reasons for not quite liking that kind of email as a seller --my customer gets a tracking number no matter what form of payment and logging it on Etsy is just an extra step and would make my order processing for DC different from the other forms of payment I accept. That is secondary to what a BUYER would think, though.

As a buyer it would make me concerned that there is an issue or a problem with the shop (even when there may not be).

I'm not sure what the point of an email like that is unless Etsy is having a huge issue with undelivered items and the buyers not asking to have a refund through DC and not reporting non delivery to Etsy. And sadly, that is the message it is going to send to some buyers...hey we don't know if this seller is actually delivering stuff so we need to ask you.

I have told customers that we get a little happy with the emails (so they are prepared and not scared). I tell them it is all part of the process and so far nobody has complained about 3 different emails giving them the tracking information. A few have thanked me once they got the package. And a couple of times I had to get the post office to email the customer with tracking updates because they never read any of the emails sent to them.
