This is my first post on Etsy :)

Is there a way to tell if an order purchased through Direct Checkout came from an Etsy gift card or if it was through DC itself?

Happy holidays to you! That is a great question for your first post.

When a buyer completes a purchase with an Etsy Gift Card it will say so on the order receipt, under payment method.

Yes, it goes to the "shop payment account."

I had my first gift card payment tonight. In the "Payment" section, the receipt says the following.

Payment Method
Paid via direct checkout
Etsy Gift Card balance applied
