I've had both direct checkout and Paypal as payment options for my shop for a while now, and more people tend to choose Paypal. I prefer that people use direct checkout, because the rates are better, and they automatically deposit the money in my bank account, instead of needing to request a deposit as Paypal does. Has anyone here dropped Paypal? Has that caused a decrease in sales?

Thanks!

Re: Do I need both DC and Paypal?

Am keeping both. However, may switch when DC sales surpass PP sales, or when Etsy. uses it's own payment method; whichever happens first.

Using your own product inspires confidence. For all the anti PP comments I have seen in the forums (in general), would love to know why PP is still the first choice on Etsy. Bill payment options.

Re: Do I need both DC and Paypal?

I agree about keeping both - although I have noticed that more and more of my sales are from DC, I do have paypal customers also.

Agreed ith keeping both. More options to pay makes customers see that you are flexable. I do COD, DC, PP all togther. What s comfortable fr you may not be so for a potential custimer. In fact, you may loose customers by dropping PP.

Re: Do I need both DC and Paypal?

I am quite certain that there is a loss of customers by any method not taken, whether it be paypal, direct checkout, chesk and money orders, or by not shipping to all countries.

We sellers all can choose the paths we take as well as all risks associated with them. Not every path works for every seller, and it is nice to have the ability to choose.

I do not believe I have lost any more than I have gained by switching from paypal to direct checkout, so all is good here.

I except both Paypal and DC. I feel whatever makes it more convenient for the customers.I have notice people use both equally. It is more work on my part keeping track of funds in both areas, however that is what business is all about.
