Can a custom order be paid through Direct Checkout?

Hi!
How can a customer pay me for a custom order using Direct Checkout? Do I have to issue a bill/invoice or is there a way for her to enter an amount without it being linked to a specific purchase that is already on the site?

Hi black sea, I create a custom order listing. i just use a picture from my yard,some people Make up a sign that says custom order.Put all the details in it and they can purchase as normal. John
