Your logo on your work

What would you do if your customer insists that you remove your shop info from the design (for example: ©Roxter Designs 2012 www.roxterdesigns@etsy.com)?

Re: Your logo on your work

I think I would inquire as to why the request is being made. Hallmark and American Greetings brand their designs so I'm not sure why it would be expected that you wouldn't.

Great items in your shop, btw. :)

Re: Your logo on your work

If they reaaally wanted it removed, I would make them purchase the copyright from you. That's how it works with big time companies as far as I know.

Re: Your logo on your work

I would try to come to a compromise and offer to make it more watermark like, but remind them that it is standard practice for you to have it there.

Re: Your logo on your work

how do you prevent copyyright for printables/ I just save them to 50% quality so they will print up blurry at bit.

Re: Your logo on your work

Hi Melissa,

The few listings I looked at don't show "©Roxter Designs 2012" as part of the design.

I think it's fine to brand your designs, as long as the listing images clearly show that your branding is a part of the design.

Adding your branding after purchase can be a little misleading. When I purchase a Hallmark card it clearly already has the branding on it, they don't stamp it at the register after I pay.

Re: Your logo on your work

I don't add branding to my printable designs - at least not to the design itself. I figure that as long as the design I'm selling them is personalized (photo, names, dates, addresses, etc), they've paid for it so there's little chance of them taking that design for other purposes. When I give them a JPG, it's high-resolution for that size only, and if I send them a PDF, it's HQ without editing capabilities so if they did open it in Illustrator, they'd have a hard time manipulating it.
Now if I were selling printable PDFs that weren't personalized, then I would put a Copyright notice on it.
