Selling Designed Prints On Etsy

Hi There,

I'm interested in selling prints I've designed on Etsy, but am unsure of how to showcase my designs. I've seen a lot of people showcase their prints framed, but I just want to sell the digital file, not actually framed or printed. However, I do think it's important to show a finished product for marketing purposes. I don't want to go out and buy a bunch of frames and print my designs and take photos just for this purpose tho. Does anybody have suggestions on how they've done this in their shops?

My suggestion would be to buy two or three really great frames and use them just to take pictures. Make one print of each design, hang it and take a picture. Keep these prints in a binder with sheet protectors. Never know one day you may want to sell at craft fairs or art sales and you will already have a sample book. Also i find taking the glass out when you take pictures makes it a whole lot easier not to get glare.

photoshop your designs into a frame. Take the picture of the frame in the environment you want and have several different ones. Then just use those photos to photoshop several of your items

Jennifer, I know you mentioned taking out the glass, but do you guys have any other tips for photographing frames?

That's what I do, photoshop or illustrate the frame in. Then insert it into various stock photos of nice rooms...

Lately, I felt that was too much work and started to simply display the art by itself and the images of actual prints in plastic

I use virtual frames. I've wondered if photographing in an actual frame would increase sales but so far it hasn't seemed worth the time and effort. Much of what I do is custom though, so it's possible the buyer has lower expectations for presentation.
