Many of us who are over 60 can see the similarities in what is happening today and what happened in the 60's. It was protest for a reason !!It was the government going through impoverished neighborhoods and drafted young men, many black to die for a war that NO ONE could tell us WHY we were fighting it. The rich white kids who could afford to go the college got a free pass, many of those men have been contolling Washington for the last 20 years. Young men who COULD NOT EVEN VOTE were being sent by chickenhawk politicions to die in Viet Nam. Women were not given the opportunites they had a right to. Here we are , it's 50 years later and we are still trying to pull this cancer in our Government out by the roots. WE are being joined by a new generation they are the base for Sanders and they are speaking loud and clearly as we did 50 years ago.
Hear this song with new ears... You may weep at the relevance it has to us today whether you are a Sanders supporter or a Trump supporter, We right here in this team and from the previous thread in the general forum LEARNED to listen to each other and maybe learn from each other but mostly many of us realized what we wanted was a government that cared about us and not itself. The 20 somethings are joining us so listen to their voice of a song that we loved and were inspired by.
The exact middle of this song will make your heart start to race.

Simon & Garfunkel - The Sounds of Silence - Lyrics Meaning
Following the assassination of the 35th American president John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, Paul Simon, half of the folk duo Simon and Garfunkel, wanted to create a song that he felt accurately depicted the emotional turmoil that had spread across the country. The song, written in February of 1964, was "The Sounds of Silence," the track that rocketed the duo to stardom. On New Year's Day of 1966, "The Sounds of Silence" reached number one in the United States. It is said that it took six months for Simon to write the lyrics - he only averaged one line per day. Many believe that the song was written about the Vietnam War because it became popular at the same time and seemed to be a powerful anti-war statement, however Simon's actual theme is man's inability to communicate with his fellow man. The lyrics, which are full of light and dark imagery, speak of "People talking without speaking, people hearing without listening," illustrating people's tendency to be apathetic towards each other. Communication is often only on a very superficial level, symbolized by the "neon god." In this world, no one dares to reach out to anyone else and disrupt the sound of silence.
