Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

Last year was the first time I ever bought fresh cranberries. I'd seen the recipe I now use, and thought I should try it since my oldest daughter was preparing the main part of Thanksgiving. It was a huge hit...so I made it again for Christmas at my house.

Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

Yes, they are...I froze it, took it out to thaw last night, we had our Thanksgiving today since my daughter and her boyfriend are working on Thursday. My daughter's boyfriend just raves about the cranberry relish.

Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

Did you cook them and then freeze or freeze before cooking them?

Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

Gotcha! Found bags for 1.50! So have to resist the urge to eat them all and put a couple a way for the cranberry dead zone!

Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

The first was fantastic! Great food and company. Had a blast with the older boys...12 and 14...I took the game Left Center Right. An old friend told me about the game, and since it was supposed to be (and turned out to be) a dreary, rainy day, I thought a game was in order. They loved it...and it turned out their Grandma knew the game and played, too. Speaking of her, she made an amazing sheetcake, from scratch. Chocolate cake, topped with marshmallows after baking, then back in oven to melt, then topped with a homemade chocolate frosting. YUMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are you doing for Thanksgiving? You're welcome to drop by...I'm cooking a turkey breast. :)

Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

Sounded like fun!

I have a standing dinner with an Italian friend. She says we are not doing the usual 6 courses :P

Well, you'll still have fun, even if you eliminate a course. :)

Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

Hey, Crazy, you can put the bags of fresh cranberries in the freezer. I just read that on the bags I bought today.

Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

Recovering from my annual Italian Thanksgiving :)

Not as much as last year - the usual antipasto course, then lasagna, then we were going to go onto the turkey and fixings, but we were all stuffed...Had my first bowl of homemade french onion soup - very nice :)

The best part was the visit for about 8 hours :)

I went to my little brother's. He is a great cook! His wife made a wonderful pumpkin sheetcake with cream cheese frosting.

Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

Last night I boiled some cauliflower, then whipped it up in the food processor with some Laughing Cow, and salt and pepper. Pretty amazing substitute for mashed taters!

Re: Favorite Foods and Recipes

Won Ton wraps
Cream Cheese

Heat up your favorite fry oil, just enough to cover bottom of pan.
Wrap up squares of cream cheese in won ton wraps.
Once oil has reached good fry temperature, put them in just long enough to brown on both sides.

YUM!
