Big Bird

Mitten's brilliant idea of cutting funds for public broadcasting amount to a whopping .00012 percent of the federal budget in 2011!!!

Yes, but how many of these "little" programs can be cut? Probably thousands.

Re: Big Bird

oh, yes, definitely. after all, the "little" programs do nothing for the people of the united states. they can just be cut and life will just keep going on just peachy.

i don't know about you, but i say do away with it all!!!!!! it's all a bunch of crap nonsense anyway. much better to cut taxes than fund any of this shit...

It would take thousands just to make a tiny dent. But, then again, it hardly offsets his proposal to increase military spending dramatically.

Gotta love repub "math"!

Re: Big Bird

Assuming there are 1000 little programs that could be cut like pbs, just as loco suggests.....

1000 x .00012 percent = .12 percent!!!!!! 12 basis points. Not even close to one half of one percent!!

So, are you beginning to understand now just how idiotic Romney is???

Re: Big Bird

don'tcha know, it makes no difference if it makes no difference in the budget. it's the principle. cut cut cut. every penny cut is a penny saved, right? after all, we don't really need any of that crap that makes life better for our citizens, or provides services that we need, or the jobs that come from those services, or any stupid stuff like that.

Re: Big Bird

It all adds up...obviously dems know nothing of budgeting.

I wonder how ABC, CBS, and NBC stay on the air...it isn't through government handouts...but they're still there.

PBS solicits donations...I know, I've donated to them, how many of you have?

Re: Big Bird

Monthly income: $4000

Rent/mortgage: $1200
Utilities: $300
Groceries: $500
Insurance: $600
Phone & internet: $100
Clothing: $200
Medical/Dental (co-pays/prescriptions:) $150
Car & Fuel: $700
Savings: $200
Donations: $100
Hair/Manicures/Pedicures: $100
Entertainment: $150
Starbucks: $50

Hmmm...where to cut back, they're all so important...but, just as in a household budget, the government has to start whittling down their spending.

Re: Big Bird

The repub answer would be cut back on the important items that cost tiny percentages of a penny, while leaving unimportant items (like tax credits for the oil companies) and even adding more uber expensive items like military spending.

In repub math terms:

the budget - (1000 x .00001%) cents + $2 trillion = a repub spending cut

Re: Big Bird

Are we getting down to poor people are lazy cheeto eating entitled whiners?

Most of those things on the list of cut are things I never had in the first place.
Believe me. Poor people know how to cut and republicans know how to cut poor people.
This is not "shared" sacrifice.

Serena from SerenaSmithLampwork says

*******************
And, the dems idea of increasing income (and for those who seem unaware, this is a hypothetical exercise...meant to get the mind firmly on cutting our national debt) is to raise taxes. That is not acceptable, as there are plenty of areas to cut expenses.

As "Mittens" explained during the debate, he has no intentions of lowering taxes for the wealthy..."they're doing just fine." What has obummer sacrificed? (yes, if you get to use little catch-phrases, I will, too.) He's been living the high life since 01/2009...improving his golf game, exotic vacations, hobnobbing with celebrities, going on TV...

Not to mention running the country.

Again. If you didnt complain about the last guy who took more time off than any other president your statement is meaningless.

Re: Big Bird

the righteousness makes me giggle.

"i'd never use a snarky name for someone, i'm just not that kind of person. but, since you did it..."

on the other hand, i guess i shouldn't mock someone who is trying to make a change in their public personality. after all, mittsy is giving it a try!

I noticed that too. It's pretty funny. It's the Romney etch-a-sketch routine.
