how do you get this look?

I am gearing up to photo some wedding dresses and am trying to find out how photographers achieve this dreamy etheral look?anyone know if it is a filter or lens or just changing the settings?

hi,

it's basically shot in the shade of a tree w/ the background in sunlight. they set their camera to overexpose by about 1.5 stops. all point and shoots should have that.

you can also achieve the same manipulation w/ photoshop by adjusting the hue setting lightness and also the brightness setting then add a little contrast for a little of the deep darks to show.
