Debra: Congratulations. I'm so happy for you. I know what you mean about it being hard to leave. When I first started watching Olivia when she was just an infant. I would feel so bad when I had to leave. I use to watch her on Tuesday's and go home on Friday night. Now that I'm here I couldn't think of leaving or living anywhere else. She will be 8 in June and I don't know where the times has gone. I was thinking of getting an instagram account but I don't know anything about it. I'll have to ask my daughter.
The weekend I got a surprise order for one of my items in my Etsy account. It's for a poncho. I didn't have it listed as no one bought it and I thought they wouldn't so I started wearing it. I couldn't give it to her/him? since I wore it. They asked if I could make it in a silver/grey with sparkles, so I said yes. I'm rather happy. I know it's been a year since my last order, but it still makes me feel a bit better. I still haven't sold anything on zibbet, but now zibbet and Etsy are connected so you can look on both sites when your on one or the other.
Violet sounds so cute. It's funny the're so little but they know exactly what they want. I'd love to see a picture of it when you're done. Olivia is doing really really well in school, I'm happy. They get there mid term results and they said that she most likely will be getting promoted to 3rd grade.. She's good in Math and she loves to read. Thank goodness for that because I thought she would be the kind of kid that didn't like too.
The weather has finally turned nice, and it's so good to be able to go outside. It was like 75 yesterday and 65 today. My daughter is planning a trip to Scotland in the summer and I will be going, I can't wait. She finally started to watch Outlander and that is what prompted her to go. She has been there before, but we want to go to the historical places. I'm so goosed I can't wait. Debra: You have to watch this show. You will love it. It's a romance story as well as a historical piece.
Hope all is well with you Lisa, and Sue Ellen.
Debra, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Aww, I'll bet he is adorable! I kind of laughed at your "old and tired" comment. I am usually worn out after just spending a few hours with the granddaughters! Are you going to go visit the kids again soon? That is so cute that Violet already had a costume picked out (for Grandma to make) for her baby brother. Kids are so funny and cute!
My son took the girls to the ranch overnight and he said Addy was worried alligators would break into the windows at night and bite her. He had fun trying to convince her that A. There are no alligators in the area and B. that he would not let any alligator bite her. Addy finally settled down about the alligator and then started worrying that someone would take her shoes! Too funny!
Mary Alice, congrats on the custom poncho request! Season 5 of Outlander just started on starz and I have been glued to the TV when new episodes air. If I ever went to Scotland I would want to visit the historical sites too! I can imagine you are very excited for the trip.
I've been busy with physical therapy but it does seem to be helping. Don ordered a treadmill and I can do extra walking on the days I don't have pt. It is helping with my breathing and stamina ... so far so good.
I am still livid with etsy's ad fee and am setting up a shop on indiemade. I bought my domain and have everything setting up and have already set up the link in our about page. I am going to leave our coaster sets on etsy but all of our scarf lines are going to be on our website. I can't justify raising prices again and I'm not willing to work for less profit. I don't know what kind of brain fart etsy was having with this idea.
Anyway, I hope everyone else is well and the weather is warming up. It has been really pretty here the past few days.
Hi Ladies ~
Mary Alice ~ I can hardly believe Olivia is going to be 8! I remember when you announced her birth!! I am so excited for you that you will be going to Scotland. I have a friend and his wife who moved last summer to the Glasgow area. He is originally from there and after a trillion years in the states decided he wanted to go home. His wife is from Texas so I'm sure the move was a culture shock. It's supposed to be very beautiful and so many historic sites. You will love it!!
Congrats on the sale! You are you own best advertising. You should wear your items more often. I'm still only offering patterns. I have no desire right now to sell. I had a custom order this week for a past customer but I told her only one set and it would take at least a week to get out. I'm over it for now.
Lisa ~ I hope you are doing ok and that you continue making progress with your pt. How's Don doing? Your granddaughters and Mary Alice's are just a hoot. Violet keeps me on my toes, never saw a child boy or girl who is so busy!!
The new Etsy fees are crazy. I feel like you Lisa, I can't keep raising my prices and not making the profit I want. I'll check out your new site. I deal with a button shop that use to sell on Etsy and she also just opened her own website. It's so nice and very professional.
This week has been very crazy for me. I came home Wednesday and on Thursday my dad's health took a turn for the worse. Yesterday, I was able to arrange for 24 hour nurse care in my folk's home and this morning the night nurse called and told me that my dad was not good and needed to be evaluated by a doctor. The reason I ordered the nursing care is that my dad was unable to get up or move on his own but today it was worse and he was barely coherant and unable to stay awake.
I ran over to their house this morning and after trying to move him with the nurse I decided he needed to be in the hospital. He was really so weak. The dr. at the hospital gave us some dire news, my dad's blood pressure was 60/40, his kidneys are not functioning and he has internal bleeding. All the things are able to be treated but now we need to see if my dad is strong enough to make it through. He will be in ICU until his blood pressure stablizes on it's own.
Problem is that with the Corona Virus only one person per family can be designated as the visitor per day. And, the hospital looked like a scene from a zombie apocalypse movie. Not the place you want to be at the moment.
Say a little prayer for my dad.
I hope everyone has a healthy and relaxing weekend.
Debra: So sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope everything works out for the better. It is scary when you walk into a hospital and it looks that way. How is your Mom? All you hear about now is the Coronavirus. My granddaughter's school is shut down for 2 weeks now starting Monday. My daughter and I went to Walmart the other day and there was no toilet paper. It was like holy crap; this is crazy. There is only so much I can read about this stuff. After awhile I say that's enough and I don't read it. I just keep myself busy by crocheting. I'm working on 2 blankets a bobble stitch one, that I'm really almost done with, and now a chevron one. I'm doing a Daisy Farm Crafts chevron blanket. The Bobble stitch one I have from an old leisure arts book. '
Yes, my granddaughter keeps me busy as she herself if always busy. Has no rest in her butt. I love her to pieces, but I don't know how I'm going to handle 2 weeks at home with her.
Thanks for the congrats. I know etsy is just crazy with the fees, and I think a lot of people are leaving. I see an increase in people moving to Zibbet. I think like you a lot of people will start doing their own websites. Lisa I think is going to do that. That's what happens when you go public, you have to keep the stock brokers happy. Have you been watching Outlander? I'm up to season 4. Lisa said she's been watching it. It's such a great show.
I wonder how Sue Ellen, and Lauren are doing? I hope they are ok.
Well, just saw your post and wanted to reply. Hope you're dad is ok. Please keep us posted.
Hi Ladies~
Just a quick post to let you know my dad passed away very suddenly after only 24 hours in the hospital. He had a blood infection and his organs systematically shut down. He was able to answer our questions in the very last moments by nodding his head but the infection was too far gone. We had the funeral yesterday which we had to limit to only family and a few close friends. We are unable to perform many of our rituals for death because we cannot have any gatherings of people. Strange and crazy times but we will have to cope.
Debra, I am so sorry and hugs and prayers to you and your family. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
Debra: So sorry for your loss. I will say a prayer for your Dad. Please let me know if I can do anything for you. Again heartful sympathy.
Mary Alice ~ Thank you so much. We are all just so sad and trying to cope with the loss. Your prayers and friendship are greatly appreciated.
Debra, so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family.
Sue Ellen ~ Thank you so much for your condolences and prayers. It's been a difficult week and I'm taking today to just rest.
I hope everyone is doing well. I am doing self quarantine but I'm fine with it. Right now I just want to be alone and relax.
Stay well.
Debra, I'm so very sorry, especially given the limitations placed on funerals at the moment. Those rituals are important for the bereaved. You are very much in my prayers.
Just reaching out to see how everyone is doing. I'm fine as is my family. Staying indoors. Everyone I know is doing social distancing. As long as we have cell phones and can facetime it's not so bad.
We have a new addition to our family. We have a 8 week old puppy. She's a pit bull mix and is the most adorable little thing you ever want to see. Her name is Circe. She's so loveable. She justs to cuddle with you all the time. She has green eyes. She's doing well with her potty training. She understands the word potty and knows where to go when she has too. There have been a few accidents, but that's to be expected. My daughter and son in law got her from our local spca. She was in a kill shelter down in South Carolina, and the shelter up here went down and bought the puppies back up here. There were 7 of them 5 boys 2 girls. The mother was too sick and weak. I think they were going to put her down.
I never had a pit bull mix before. If I knew how loveable they were I would of certainly got one sooner. The cat's are leary of her even though they are 10 x bigger than her. In the end they will all get along. Can't wait for the warmer weather to get here, hopefully that will kill this terrible virus.
Again hope everyone is doing well. Stay inside and take care.
Mary Alice, I'm happy you are well! The news about NY is scary! We are staying home as NM has been shut down for awhile now. Have fun with the new pup! I would love to adopt some more but Don is at his limit with the two we have. Probably a good thing because if it was up to me we'd have a half dozen or more!
I laughed at my son as he has been ordered to work from home. He was on a tel-conference and a neighbor rang the doorbell. His 5 dogs started barking! Needless to say he mentioned that these meetings are funny as to the background noises that are happening in every ones homes!
I hope everyone is safe and healthy! I'm spending my stay at home time working on our website and keeping in touch with family through phone calls and facebook. My Dad has been a handful with his idea that this virus won't affect him, so I am supporting my sisters rants and wishing I could handcuff my Dad to his house.
So happy to hear you are well also Lisa: I know it must be a handful for your sister. Old people (in their 90's) think they are invincible. Since they survived so much already in their lives they don't quite understand what this is all about. Just try and keep him chained to the house (LOL) like you said. It's really hard though, not to be able to do the things you're use too especially going outside. This too shall pass though. I'm sure we will all be ok.
Are you still working with Annie's to do some more patterns. I think I will try and tackle the pattern again. It's not hard as I did one, but never added the scarf or cowl part. I have so many other different projects going on, and wanting to do others I will eventually get to do with it what I have in mind. Is your shop still busy? I finished the shawl for my customer and posted it in my shop. I just heard from her yesterday and said she will be sending me the money shortly. She's not familiar with working the computer so she's waiting on her daughter to help her. She said when she get's in she will be ordering another one. That made me happy.
Today the weather is warm 60. The sun is shining and it makes life more bearable. I should go out and sit on the deck to get some fresh air as I think tomorrow it will be rainy
Ok just passing by. Hope everyone is happy and safe.
Hey guys, I have a problem. I have a customer who paid me with a visa credit card. It shows not paid, Etsy took out their fees, and when I look at the receipt it says paid via other method and it says not paid What does this mean. It shows her address and where I have to mail it. Do I have to wait for the c.c. payment to go thru? I'm confused. I never had a c.c. payment before they always paid with pay pal.
Mary Alice, Do not ship until the payment clears. If the customer paid with a cc it would have gone through etsy payments. If you have "other" enabled in your shop it could be an e check, or other mailed check or money order, etc.
Is the order showing as "pending"? Etsy will probably show you a warning not to ship until payment clears
.Hi Lisa,
It says awaiting payment. So since Etsy took out their fees, it went thru Etsy payments and I'm just waiting for the payment to clear? Sorry I sound so dumb, but like I mentioned I never had a c.c. payment before, so I'm a bit confused by the process. The woman wanted to know if she did her cc payment right and I wasn't sure of how to answer her because I wasn't sure if she did.
Thanks Lisa.
Mary Alice,
If the payment is showing as awaiting payment it sounds like the customer may not have completed the purchase correctly. Usually if the order is paid and there is a delay the payment will show as "payment pending".
You may need to contact etsy about the order.
I hope you get it straightened out soon!
Hi Ladies ~
Thank you so much for your condolences. It's such an odd time we are going through. I've just been at home like everyone else. Not much to do at home so I've been organizing my cabinets and bathroom, once again. Always something that can be thrown away.
Tomorrow I get to go out and pick up my food order from Walmart, yay! I never thought I would be excited about taking a drive to Walmart.
I haven't been crocheting except to make things for Violet and Nicholas. I made them the matching dinosaur hats with little spikes on top and I made a matching diaper cover for the baby. I also crocheted a face mask from a pattern I found on Etsy. It's certainly not CDC approved but if even gives a little protection I'll take it.
Haven't had the energy to take up crocheting for my shop. Maybe next week when I receive my ink refill for my printer. I ran out and can't print messages or labels and standing in line at the post office to get labels isn't happening.
Lisa~ How's your dad behaving? My mom keeps wanting to go out but we have told her numerous times no way. My sister, brother and I have been shopping for her and she is just going to have to get use to that.
MaryAlice ~ Did the customer's payment go through? Your puppy sounds so cute!!! Great time to have a puppy when you can be home to train. My puppy will be a year old in April. She's a pain, still not totally trained but she is so cute.
I've been concerned about my son in NYC and hoping he will decide to come home until his office reopens possibly in April. He is working from home and it would make more sense to come home to Florida instead of sitting in his cramped little apt. for the next month. He has his own room here and an office he can use. I'm freaking out that Trump will close down NYC and then he can't get home and I can't get to him should he need me.
How are you guys doing up in Saugerties?
My brother and brother-in-law came over today to fish in my backyard. They wouldn't come in the house and we stood talking outside about 10 feet apart. So weird.
I hope everyone stays well and safe.
Debra, my thoughts and prayers have been with you. I was wondering how your son was doing and I pray he stays safe and that the city is not quarantined. My sister will usually come visit me when she needs a break, but with the virus and Don and I are both high risk, we aren't seeing anyone for a while.
My Dad seems to have settled down, for now. He goes to dialysis 3 times a week and that is all the "going out" he needs to be doing!!! He won't wash his hands ... ever and I picture my sister chasing him around with a disinfectant spray bottle and wipes (from our conversations).
Don's eye surgery was canceled due to the hospital situation and I think Don was relieved because he was worried about me taking him for the surgery. I am also relieved because I was worried about him!
I've been working on some new designs to submit to Annie's for patterns. I have one new pattern coming out in June in one of their "big book of crochet" themes. I'll post more, when I know more. I am very happy for my yarn hoard, as I have enough yarn in stock to keep both Don and I busy for months. Plus with some of the yarn companies not shipping now, it gives me a chance to use up some of the older yarns and free up space for when I do get a chance to order again.
I am finding I have to turn off the news at times as my anxiety level raises with the virus outbreak (that and phone calls with my sister and "talking her off of a ledge".
Mary Alice, did you get the payment straightened out? I had one buyer last year claim she had paid for her custom order but nothing showed in my shop and she had not finished the final step for checking out (I think the submit order) button.
Hope everyone is safe and stays healthy!
Hi guys. No the payment says still awaiting, so I think she might have done what you said Lisa, Not hitting the submit order button. I think she's an elderly woman as she said she needs her daughter to help her. Her daughter is a nurse, so being with everything that is going on she can only speak or see her at certain times I guess. I just sent her a note and asked her to double check what she did, and see if she forgot to submit it.
Hope that works. Very frustrating.
Debra: Trump didn't go through with the lock down in NYC. It would of never worked to begin with. We up here in Saugerties are doing ok. Keeping ourselves busy spring cleaning. Now if the sun would come out it would be great. It was nice Friday, but yesterday, today, and tomorrow we will have rain. It's in the 50's so it's not so bad.
Ive just completed a shawl, and am working on 2 afghans.
Lisa: Hope your Dad finally washes his hands LOL. I can imagine how Don feels. I know sometime in the near future I will probably need to get laser surgery on my left eye, as I have a cataract. I have a dr's appt on the 2nd. So, will see.
The puppy is sooooo cute. She's soooo cuddly. She loves my daughter, or anyone who she can snuggle up with. She's gotten bigger since she's been bought home. She can eat, and she's doing pretty good with the potty training. If the weather would get a bit warmer my son in law can take her out and then she can poop and pee out there. I have the cats to worry about not that they are much of a problem, I just change the cat litter.
Lisa: I'm glad you're doing ok with Annie's Did you ever get your payment from them? You said you had to wait until February. Hope it's worth your while. I'm up to season 5 episode 3 in Outlander. This such a great show. I'm going to feel bad when it ends. I love Claire and Jamie, They seem to go together so well in the show.
Hope everyone is safe and stay well.
Hi All.
Sorry to be a pain, but I want to know how I can actually get Etsy to correspond with me. I went to the help section and typed in my problem, but it's not helping me Where do I go to have an actual conversation. I contacted the customer but still no answer. I also got an email from Etsy last Friday after the woman made the purchase, and it says paid other, Sorry guys to be a pain. This is more trouble than it's worth.
Mary Alice,
Your customer may have been confused if you have other set up in your shop as a payment method. To disable go to shop dashboard>finances>payment settings. From there you can disable other (money order and payment by mail orders). Make sure that etsy payments is enabled (mandatory for selling on etsy) and this will allow all major credit cards and paypal.
When I have contacted etsy, I just kept following links or escalating the process until I got a response. On the reply you got from etsy, check to see if anywhere in the email there is an area that you can escalate the "canned response" they gave you.
Super frustrating trying to get customer service answers from etsy on anything
Oh and by the way ... you are NOT a pain! Etsy convoluted help sections and customer service is
Thanks so much Lisa: You're a doll. Will keep you posted.
