How did you make your first sale?

Hi there Daily Etsy Sellers!

Browsing through the members list of our team and looking at all your lovely shops, I started noticing we are a very diverse group of shop owners. Some of us have been on Etsy for years, others are just starting off and have yet to make their first sale.

Let's start a discussion on making that first sale. We all know it's that one magical moment, just that one sale, we're all eagerly waiting for when just starting out on Etsy.

So let's share!

It doesn't matter whether you only had a couple of sales or hundreds: please share your 'first sale' experience so new shop owners can be inspired.

Hi, Everyone!

I'm looking forward to reading your posts and being a member of this Etsy group.

I made my first sale three months after opening my Etsy store. One of the first social media sites I set up was Facebook. It was a surprise to me when my first sale was from an old friend on Facebook that I had not seen in many years. Even though I was a bit hesitant to share on Facebook at first, thinking I was "pushing" my items on my friends, it turned out that during my first year, most of my sales were to my Facebook friends; many of whom I had not seen in a long time. It was great to reconnect with them and more importantly I was pleased that they loved the items they purchased.

I am currently researching how to increase my sales.
My shop has been open almost a year and half and my sales are at 14.

My first sale came from a post on Instagram! Which is quite a surprise since most views come from Etsy. It was an old classmate from years ago who purchased a macrame piece.

I've only been on Etsy over a week now. My first Etsy based sale came on the first night I started listing.

It has been a whole week since my first sale though and when I thought that maybe it was just a fluke, last night someone else ordered my highest quantity that I'm listing.

I've done a lot of social media posts and ultimately facebook seems to be driving alot of my views, through lots of groups linked to veganism and plant based diets.

I am hopeful that it will succeed, but it is such early days at the moment, I just need to expand my product range in the coming months.

My first sale took about 7 or 8 weeks.
If I could do it all over again, I will have done more research on what sale and I would have wait to have about 100 items in my shop before opening, plus I would have pick a theme for background in my pictures.
Just keep learning and working hard, I know it would pay off eventually.

My first sale came from my sister when I had my photography shop open. I have since combined my 2 etsy shops into one. My first Sale from someone not related came about a month or so after I started my shop. I didn't know what I was doing so I just shared my posts on facebook, Instagram and I had my own personal website at the time also.
