Re: Need a little guidance.

I took a look at your shop and you do have nice bows and the pictures look great too. You just opened your shop a few weeks ago so be patient. It took me over a month me 6 weeks to get my first sale.

After a month of no sales I started joining several teams and in the teams I would participate in the discussions and post my pictures by copying and pasting the URL. I would post 2 or 3 in a post so people could see a wide variety of things. I also started to think what else I could make. At first I just had cards, so I branched out into decals and those are what sold at first, and now people are buying my cards too. Ever since I started posting things in team discussions the sales have been rolling in.

Also, join pinterest (if you havent already) and create a board with just things from your shop. Here is mine: http://www.pinterest.com/hawiianhibiscus/crafts-by-kabel/ As you can see when you click on the picture it brings you directly to my site.

Hopefully this helps. Does anyone else have some advice for Mrs Andrus?

Re: Need a little guidance.

Thats a lot of good advice. I guess I do have to be more patient. I went back in to change the keywords to a lot of pictures and that helped. I am going to create a board on my pinterest for the items. Thank you so much for taking your time out to look and give m feedback

Re: Need a little guidance.

Very nice bows. I think it would help if you listed more of your bows. The more you have in searches and listings the better chance you have of being seen and faved which should lead to more sales. You have a nice product and your prices are very reasonable. Your bows just need to be seen.
Good luck and hope you get lots of sales.

Re: Need a little guidance.

Hi I've just started too. I'm dealing with the same challenges. So I agree more products, more variations and more selections would bring more visitors. Also joining community teams and interacting with others seems to have a good response for the shop's traffic. I believe it's a process always improving your photos, details, your key words, descriptions. Just try different things and see what works for you. ~ Ioana

Re: Need a little guidance.

The more I participate in the teams the more views and fav's I get... but I still have yet to get a sale from a stranger. I have made lots of in person sales and used etsy to take credit card payments LOL. So what am I missing? Are my prices to high? I have no idea what to use as tags for some things... This is my second attempt at selling on etsy and I don't want to give up but maybe I should just stick to selling in person?? Aaaack!! It's nice to know I'm not the only one that needs advice ;0)

Re: Need a little guidance.

I personally have very little mark up on my items to try to attack as many people as I can to build a client base first. Then on my big sellers I raise them 10 cents here 20 cents there to see if they still sell. I started out, and am still at very low prices in my opinion. I make about $1-$2 on my sales. When people are searching words or items they normally filter by price from low to high so this allows my items to show near the top. Obviously I am not going to make a ton of money right off the bat but it is helping me to build a client base and to find out what people are interested in.

Re: Need a little guidance.

I absolutely love Pinterest! I'm very happy that Pinterest, Facebook, and Etsy all "talk" to each other. I have the feeling that will prove useful if I ever get this beast off the ground.

Re: Need a little guidance.

Hi everyone!
I need an advice. I've opened my shop 6,5 weeks ago and I still don't have any orders. I've read many discussions, articles, even books about 'how to sell'; I've joined to teams and I'm posting new items frequently; I've created a board on Pinterest, twitter and wanelo pages, youtube video; my items were included to treasuries and I've created a treasury; and I think my photos aren't so bad...and still nothing. Just a few views per day.
Could you possibly suggest, what shoud I do?

Re: Need a little guidance.

Gallya,

Here is what I noticed when looking at your shop:

I would see if you can re-photograph some of your items. Some of the photographs are a little busy. I would always have at least one photo for every item be by itself with a plain white background. Also I noticed that some of your pictures are blurry so it does not fully show the beautiful detail of your items. You have a lot of high end products so they needs to have crystal clear photographs before your customers will spend a lot of money on them. Or, for your jewelry you should have one stand that you use for all of the necklaces or all of the earrings to keep things simplified. (I know they sell them fairly cheap at craft stores in the US, so I am not sure about the Ukraine.) Having the first picture be a simplified picture will help someone know what they are looking at, then they can click further to see other pictures like how it looks on an actual person, etc.

Also, make sure your shipping prices are accurate. I noticed that your shipping is $2.00 on pretty much all of your items. Re-evaluate the shipping cost and change it. Don't cover up your shipping cost in the product cost because if a product cost is too high it might and then they might not even click on the item so inquire further. That being said make sure the items aren't over priced too. I am not sure what the cost is on these items but just make sure the mark up on them isn't too high.

Lastly, on your two knitted items it says in the item details choose color and size. If you can show or list other color options then they know what else you can make. Even if you don't have other colors made, show the yarn colors so they have a better idea of what you can do. I would also add the size options as well. And maybe elaborate in the details a little about how it is made so they can understand the time and effort you put into making it. I personally love the two knitted items. They are just beautiful!

Well I hope this helps. Good Luck!

Re: Need a little guidance.

Katie,
thank you very much! Your advices are really helpfull. I'll be working on this.

And as for shipping prices: $2 is for shipping within Ukraine; I put another price for worldwide shipping.

Kind regards!
