I thought a chat thread would be good for sharing just about everything as well as having a good old chit chat while we do so =)

At the moment I am eating cheese and crackers and then I plan to research the restrictions that were on women in the eighteenth century. I have an assignment due next Friday based on the visible and invisible walls in womens lives.

How about you?

How exciting! Congrats Luna!

Re: Chat thread

Wow that's great news Luna!! Have you decided whether you want to go ahead with it yet?

I've finally decided what I want to do careerwise outside of Etsy - I want to work my way into hospitality management, mostly the restaurant side of things. And I've managed to secure myself an interview for tomorrow for a "restaurant host" position in a 4* hotel so fingers crossed!!!

Re: Chat thread

Congrats Carrie! Got my fingers crossed for you =) That'll be a great role for experience in that area.

Go ahead with which part? The moving out or the gallery?

I think I'm going to give the gallery a go. I mean it's exposure and they are going to offer to sell my stuff as well and if it goes I'll become a regular supplier so fingers crossed. Even if they don't though at least I'll know after a month and I get that exposure, somewhere I never would have thought of otherwise and I won't have lost too much out of it.

I've just bought my very first plate and cutlery set lol. As well as a colander, baking tray set and a griddle. How sad am I but it's quite exciting to think we're actually going to look at moving out in the next few months=s

Re: Chat thread

I was on about the gallery. Yeah it's definitely worth a go at least and its great exposure for your shop.

I understand the excitement. I get ridiculously excited when buying household things lol I got excited over buying bedding...and then it was a houseplant...lol

Re: Chat thread

Haha I didn't think about a plant! We may have to go plant shopping. I'm trying to make a list of all the stuff we might need =/ Not as easy as I first thought. I know the initial concept is you move out and just buy things as you go but I know there are some things that we're going to need straight away.

With the gallery I'm not getting my hopes up too high with it on selling many but at least I've given it a go =)

My dad said I'm expanding my empire lol.

Re: Chat thread

Congrats Luna - yes I do work too hard - have a whole other site where I run groups - mental health etc.... '

Got all listed but not here -

Question - does anyone notice that in some groups - not necessarily here - threads - tha is what I call them - are very redundant - new listings, new and or relisted items like 5 different times?

Re: Chat thread

Yeah and I think they get too cluttered and bombarded. To be honest this is the only team Im really active in and come to check these days. Im just too swamped with every day stuff.

Re: Chat thread

I have a couple of teams where I'm really active but I totally agree, a lot of those threads do just seem bombarded and its questionable as to whether it actually helps to promote or if everyone just drops their links and runs off again.

Haven't heard back about the job yet, fingers crossed I'll know in the next couple of days.

Hmm....essentials for a house... well obviously you need the basics like plates and cutlery for eating and mugs and glasses for drinking, and depending on whether the place you're moving into is furnished there's appliances to be considered. A bed, something to sit on (preferably a sofa lol) and pots and pans for cooking with.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head for absolute essentials. There's the luxuries like electronics etc but those can be bought as you go along.

We're quite lucky in that I'm buying little bits here and there and storing them away until we move out. We have a TV, we have all of the bedroom furniture, as well as bed linen. I've also bought some little jars for spice storage because we get through quite a lot of spices when I get cooking. I've founded a tableware set that I'm thinking of buying as well. Stocking up and we're probably not going to move out for another year yet!

Re: Chat thread

Have a avery busy week - will be off line from Friday May 17 through May 20 and then another busy week - will be visiting my daughter and grandchildren as you know - extending my earring sale a day or 2 to see if can make any more money - seems every time I get a little $ - I buy something essential and then something else essential breaks -

Luna - everything in this home originally came from garage sales, yards sales, thrift stores etc... few things are new. Carrie that is s good idea to start buying ahead of time - I didn't have that option. Hope you hear about the job soon.

I get confused with all the threads - but I don't run those groups so leave it alone - was just curious.

Re: Chat thread

Hope you hear soon Carrie. Sorry I'm late replying. Just started that job and I'm exhausted when I get home. Not used to doing 9-5 every week day. It's just something that I've got to get used to. Feeling a little overwhelmed by all the new information but I'm really enjoying it so far actually. I was a bit nervous and still am sometimes about things but I'm just trying to take in as much as I can.

Still looking for a place to live. We're hoping to find somewhere soon. To be honest, with all the to-ing and fro-ing I have to do between homes at the moment is getting a bit wearing now, especially having to do it after I come back from work.

I've bought a 12 set of plates bowls etc, cutlery, saucepans and baking trays, and a few oddities that will prove useful. It's just being able to get the big things really like the fridge but can't get that until we actually are ready to move.

Hope you're ok Vallee. Try enjoy your time off and away

Re: Chat thread

Luna - working 9-5 is always exhausting at the beginning - you'll get used to it but is different than the university - hope you find a place soon.

This will be my last post until I get back next week - had to mow part of the lawn on 1 crutch this morning. Am looking forward to going but so much to get prepared since my husband is disabled. have to give the dog her bath, laundry, figure out what still fits me since I have gained weight to wear and what the temperature will be like - etc., etc. Have a grand weekend all. And yes Luna - I am OK - thanks.

Re: Chat thread

Vallee, have you not got any friends that could help you with things like mowing the lawn? I can't imagine it being very easy to mow a lawn on crutches.

You'll be alright Luna, you've just got to get used to it. My OH is the same at the moment since he started his job

Re: Chat thread

There's just a lot of learning to do and it's all hard at the start. I'm trying to find somewhere for us to live at the moment and it's getting frustrating. There's just no where that's nice, suitable and will take the cat

Re: Chat thread

I'm finished!!! Had my final exam today so university is technically over!!! *happy dance*

Its finding somewhere that'd affordable that's our problem. We think I now have a job. One of my friends who is a manager at the hotel that I went to for an interview told me I got the job and I'll be split working over 2 departments (one of which is his) to make sure I get all the hours I want/need. I'm just waiting for the confirming phone call off the manager from the other department who actually interviewed me.

Congrats Carrie - have you started the job - really don't have a lot of people around - know a young guy that said he would help but I like tod do what I can - a little at a time and use those few people when I REALLY need them! Need to weed-wack and weed areas soon -

Re: Chat thread

I'm still waiting for the damn confirmation call to say that I've got the job/ when I start which is more than slightly annoying but hey ho. If I don't hear back by the end of this week I'll carry on looking for something elsewhere and if they do ring me it'll be a bonus

Re: Chat thread

That's a bit bad of them they should have let you know by now. Mind you it took an interview process and a time of nearly 2 months before I found out I had mine.

Re: Chat thread

Well from applying through to finding out if I had the job was probably about 2 months.

A lot of times it can be quite slow to hear back I think because of getting things like paper work done
