Hello to all!

Hello there!
Welcome to the group!
I make as much as I can whenever I can :). Currently working on jewellery making, Must start uploading my new jewellery pieces onto here as I am not selling as much as I would like to at craft fairs. Anywho I also make zentangle notebooks and notecards as well as knitting, crochet, sewing - someone recently told me to make more garments as that's what my degree was for but I just don't have the space at home at the moment.
I will now be making a resolution to get some more items up on here to move my stock as it were :)
Oh I'm also captain of the group and unfortunately have been neglecting my duties due to internet connection at home being absolutely awful and if I'm honest, forgetting all about Etsy :( No fear I am back!!!!! I mean it this time!!!
Sorry ladies and gents - members of the group. Let's get this group moving again properly!

Re: Hello to all!

Hi Maddison,
I've only just discovered communities on Etsy, luckily coming across this one, as I can never settle on the one craft for long. I love textiles and sculpture, started out knitting and moved on to jewellery making after I found out you could knit and sew with wire :-) ! I'd love to be able to crochet flowers etc, but I find it so difficult after knitting so long, can't get my head around it! Have you any advice on books/links to really simple instructions?

Re: Hello to all!

Hi Maddison, welcome back :) hope you get your stock moving soon so that you can create new and exciting items!

Rachel, I am the opposite, I crochet in my spare time and can't wrap my head around knitting. LOL. I don't use patterns, but usually on the yarn they come with one, or you can find one on line?

Re: Hello to all!

Thanks Anna, maybe I just need to have another crack at it! I'm afraid it's the same as free-hand stitching, with a machine or a cross stitch I'm fine as I know where I'm going, but otherwise I make a bit of a mess! I'm not patient enough to keep the stitches small! :-) I think my local knitting shop does some crochet so I'll have another go; I'll let you know how it goes!

Re: Hello to all!

Hi Rachel and welcome to the team.

I managed to find a little book on crochet flowers think it's one of those 20 makes ones. they're only small.

My nan taught me how to crochet in the round and that's how I learned lol. I love crochet, prefer it to knitting. I also have a book on amigurumi and made quite a few pandas as they were so simple. You just keep going round increasing in numbers and then decrease in numbers to end with a ball lol.

Easiest one off the top of my head... magic circle. 5 double crochet into circle. 1 chain, double crochet all the way around (5dc) then 2 dc into each dc. then i think is the tricky bit for me... think it's 1 ch treble into first dc another treble into same hole and on dc into next stitch and repeat. think that's a flower lol. I have a pattern for a star :) very similar.

Will dig it out if you like?

Re: Hello to all!

Rachel, it can defiantly be frustrating keep trying, and if it frustrates you just put it aside and do something else and go back to it later.

Maddison That sounds like a good one I may need to try that myself!
