Views to Sales Conversion - Want to know yours?

Knowing how many views you need to make a sale can really help you to understand your business better and what is required by way of marketing.

For example, if you know that you need 30 views to make 1 sale, this is a high conversion rate and means that you don't need a whole load of traffic to achieve sales. It also means that you clearly have a product people want or need.

If on the other hand, you need 500 views to make 1 sale, this is a low conversion rate. This could mean that there are issues with your shop that need addressing like photography, pricing etc., that you are not selling something people want or need or simply that you have a high end market product.

Knowing this conversion rate can really help you and this is why I am offering to give you this for free. If you want to know what your conversion rate is, just post here and I will let you know in this thread.

Figures will be based on the entire duration your shop has been open.

@KerryJayneDesigns 1 to 349 - it can take a bit of time to get a shop off the ground on Etsy. Try not to have a kneejerk reaction by reducing your prices too soon. It can do more harm than good if you start selling too cheaply.

@StudioWoodProducts 1 to 40 - time has nothing to do with a conversion rate, if you've made sales on your first day of trading, you'll still have a views to sales conversion rate.

@BibisNatureSoaps 1 to 176 - you need to work on your Facebook and Twitter accounts every day. You need several thousand followers in order to see results from these social media platforms. I work on my accounts for 10 or 15 minutes each day.

@TreasuredPensUK 1 to 468 - you've only had one sale so it's a little early to give you a meaningful figure. In order for social media to work, ie views to convert to sales, you need thousands of followers. Only a small percentage will see your post and a smaller percentage still will act on it.

@SeagullSmithJewelry 1 to 241 - the key is not to promote very much at all in order to get a lot of followers. You need to post things that interest your target market, ie quotes, tutorials, interesting facts etc. Only occasionally throw in a promotional post. The aim is to build a large following. Craftori is up to 50K+ but it has taken 2 years. It's not a quick overnight thing!
