Knowing how many views you need to make a sale can really help you to understand your business better and what is required by way of marketing.

For example, if you know that you need 30 views to make 1 sale, this is a high conversion rate and means that you don't need a whole load of traffic to achieve sales. It also means that you clearly have a product people want or need.

If on the other hand, you need 500 views to make 1 sale, this is a low conversion rate. This could mean that there are issues with your shop that need addressing like photography, pricing etc., that you are not selling something people want or need or simply that you have a high end market product.

Knowing this conversion rate can really help you and this is why I am offering to give you this for free. If you want to know what your conversion rate is, just post here and I will let you know in this thread.

Figures will be based on the entire duration your shop has been open.

Thank you for beginning this interesting and important theme!
I think the answer (the views divided to sales) might be not that simple.
It depends also WHO is the viewer.
Earlier my views turned easier to sales in Etsy - I often relisted my scarves and they were viewed (and found) by those looking for hand painted silk scarves.
Now I feel I am totally lost in Etsy - som many are selling silk scarves and my scarves just cannot be found : ((
But I have been active in teams and get some views and hearts. . . but these are the views and hearts from team mates and most of them are here just to support each other, not to buy.
But there numbers are still interesting, thank you for your kind offer!

@ Maria, Don't knock support by other Sellers. Remember that all Etsy Sellers are also potential buyers but not only that, every heart you get is visible in their circle and your item can quickly go viral and be seen by many others. If you are getting many hearts and views and not making sales, then there may be other issues with your store.

Your conversion rate is 1 to 230 - this is low to medium in comparison to many other sellers.

Businesses have to evolve all the time. What you were doing a year ago may not perhaps be working today. You need to keep up with trends and the way websites and in general the internet, changes.

When you reach a plateau, then this is the time to re-evaluate what you're doing. Check all your titles and tags because I can see that none of your titles or tags are good for SEO.

You are getting 39 views on average per day which is low so make sure you market outside of Etsy too. This will also give you valuable back links.

And I agree with you Eureka on sellers are buyers too, I am a perfect example of that, I bought my whole Christmas shopping from other Etsy sellers, and whenever I can afford a treat for myself I go straight to my favourites list.

Am very active in teams and discussions. And from others opinion, i got to know that my SEO is also good. The very first month I got so many views. But now its drastically falling. :( But when I make treasuries, they get 100+ views in few hours but my shop views are not even 10% of that !
Am all confused where and what am I doing wrong :`(
All I came to know is Jewelry Business is so saturated here !

This is interesting, how do you figure it out? I know (Before I knew we weren't supposed to) I posted some things to stumbleupon and got an enormous amount of views in a short amount of time (one item got over 1000 views in a couple days) I was talking to another artist who had the same thing and we concluded that it had to be bots. It completely messed up my hearts to views ratio on those items.

Also, doesn't it kind of depend on what category and price range your in?

Conversion rates are a lot to do with the value of your items. If you sell high value items, then you need a lot more views to achieve a sale but low value items, will usually go much faster.

Thanks for that.Useful to know and not surprising. Partly, I think, jewelry on etsy is like in storefronts on streets -- way more lookers than buyers.

Thank you Eureka! What is the next step? For me, it looks like to get more consistent sales I need to market myself more. My views per day are not consistent at all and neither are my sales.

@SweetBeeHoney, You should also check all areas of your shop to see if there are issues, for example, I see that your titles are not right, it's the first 3 words only that should be THE keywords relating to your item. Sometimes Sellers just need to amend their policies before they begin making more sales. Check everything.

Sometimes a low conversion rate, ie you need a lot of views to make a sale can also be something as simple as you not offering a refund or exchange in your policies. You need to give Buyer confidence and this is important. Few people will want to go to the trouble of shipping something back unless there really is a problem.

Please also be aware that it is open to any Buyer to put in a dispute with Paypal within 45 days of transaction. If Paypal find in their favor, they will refund the customer in full including the shipping costs.
