Hellooooo! :) The move was fun- six am start from Cornwall then had to get everything up to the third floor. The flat is fantastic though, big, with windows on three sides over my drawing space - am spoilt really.
Now busy getting ready for Whitby goth weekend- the first one is just over a week away so busy putting the finishing touches to various outfits :)
Oooo, you're throwing yourself into it! *have an impressed face* I do wish you luck with that. Hope you'll have some photos for us to look at. :-))
The flat sounds wonderful. Sounds a bit like my daughter's new flat in Liverpool. She's in a Grade II listed building right by the Mersey. I didn't even know it could be so nice there! lol I also didn't know that it was salt water, she says it smells just like the sea.
Having so much light for drawing much be great. So happy for you. :-)
It's great- I can see the sea, the castle and the windmill from my flat :)
Doing Whitby so soon means doing it on a real budget- have just made myself a bustle out of a jacket I didn't like, but am hoping a suitcase full of masks will mean nobody notices lack of other costume changes! I'm writing a piece for alt fashion magazine when I get back so will drop in a link for that with photos :)
I'm sure that whatever you do Karen, it will be great, it always is. I hope you do well. Looking forward to the article.
It's been hectic and chaotic here too. I went to Nimes to see my son and help him improve his flat. We did an Ikea run, oh joy, I'm still recovering. The next day we had an entire day of flat packs to put together. Anyway, he's very happy.
Whilst there, he didn't have any internet, his livebox was not working so that meant that I could hardly get online the whole time I was there. Made things a little difficult to say the least! So now I'm back home, I'm catching up like mad.
Scary how reliant we all are on the net now- must admit, I found it very odd being out of touch with the business during the move. Rich was keeping everything going of course- not the same as having it all in front of you though, is it ?
No, that's for sure! I felt like one of my limbs had been cut off! I kept feeling anxious thinking I'd forgotten something. I guess this is like an addiction, oh dear! lol
Just tried to work out how far Liverpool is from Scarborough and I think it's around 230 miles, quite a way. I've been toying with the idea of coming to the UK to see my daughter but not sure how to organise it yet.
One of these days :) We have to have a get together at some point, maybe I'll do some travelling myself at some point if I can stop moving house long enough !
I just had my studio and office knocked through into one big space and I love it, what a difference taking a wall down and having nice wood floors has meant.
Haven't check in for ages. It's great that you're settled in Karen. You must post photos of Whitby! The mention of casters brought tears to my eyes. Last week I was performing the scooting around on casters trick when they went over my toes. Two cracked nails and lots of bruising later I'm very careful now!
Ooooh, ouch! I can't do that here as they've put those carpet strips in the doorways, rather like rumble strips for office chairs :) Though thanks to this being an old house and the lounge floor being several inches lower in the middle, every time I sit at the computer I find myself drifting downhill.
@ Karen Haha! I had a house like that and my poor sons's office was on a complete slope! We had to build up the floor under the carpet to make it flat as it gave him a bad back.
@Cat That must have hurt like mad! Poor you. Hope it's healed well.
Perhaps that's what I need a rumble strip! Or perhaps wear shoes indoors. I can recommend freeze pain spray. If you can get over the initial shock of the cold it really works. I'll have to give myself a pedi now that the bruising is going. I am an accident waiting to happen!
You've got to love old buildings and their characters. Learning to live with them instead of trying to change them is the best thing to do. A bit like men really!
I do much prefer a house with a bit of personality - the dormer window is an original feature and although it rains in sometimes when really windy it's so much nicer than the double glazing at the back. I've also learnt to duck under the beam in the bedroom :)
Sounds a bit like our house. Ours is 200 years old with beams spanning the entire depth of the house. This means that they've bent over the years and sag in the middle. I'm alright but Joe has to duck in several places upstairs. Trying telling guests that though!
The only health hazard we have in our house is the dog, who once she hears steel on chopping board is weaving through your legs in expectation of dinner preparation delights.
*wave* Helllllooooo everybody! Its Friday here and I am a bit loopy. :) Darn Etsy keeps expiring my items as I try to break 120 this month. LOL At least it gives me a chance to re-tag, title and re-write my descriptions. I think its all starting to help a bit but we shall see at the end of the month!
