Hi everyone, first time I have seen this chat thread!! Been on the team a short while but not posted anything before so this is great for me to get to know some people!
I grow lots in containers but do have quite a large garden. We grown small salad potatos, tomatoes, and love to grow peas! Some of the peas we let them grow but others we just grow for the leaves, they are amazing in salads! I too put strawberries in hanging baskets.
On the watering side, I buy some crystals that you put into the basket or container and water them, be careful though they swell up rather a lot but it sure helps with the watering!!
My shop here doesnt have much stock in at the mo mainly because I am setting up a new online shop for myself as I have found that I get more sales off Etsy and have a lot of returning customers.
Looking forward to getting to know you all! Andrea
Oh how lovely what a great idea to have a chat thread! What is everyone up to today?
I am going to start out with some yoga and then get going on some painting! The sun is hiding in Holland today unfortunately but it is a good excuse to stay inside and get creative ; )
I will be alone all weekend as my partner just left for work and will only be back on Monday so nice to have some company!
Hi Bonnie! I know those grey skies of Holland only too well! I lived in Belgium just across the border. :-)
How lovely to have a weekend to yourself! I keep trying to persuade my other half to go somewhere! lol
Sounds like you'll have a great weekend. I just went to the studio as I bought myself some storage units and I'm starting to oganise my paints and materials, ready to start my new collection. I have an exhibition this summer. :-))
I recently received a message from a member telling me how uninspired they were by this team because all they saw were promotional threads. I have been trying very hard to keep this thread (and others) going but each day I wake up, they've slipped down the list again.
Promoting is not just listing what you're selling, it's building relationships online. :-)))
Hi Karen! I quite like editing photos. I find it amazing sometimes watching them come to life and it often makes me look at my items in a different light.
I'm loving all the lovely new photos in your shop, they look amazing. So much nicer to see your face than the polystyrene heads (although they're good photos too). :-)
Promoting is not just listing what you're selling, it's building relationships online. :- I can't agree more. It's so good to have this chat thread but there don't seem to be many talkative people on the team. I've still got to get my head around editing so I'll check out Karen's for inspiration.
I have seen that other members grow a lot of their own veg....I do too! I have the garden set up for things like peas/beans and salad crops and I have an allotment where I grow stuff like potatoes/artichokes/fruit bushes and other things that I can't fit in the garden.
I'm in the middle of knitting an organic, shawl necked, baby jumper. I'll have to get it finished and listed. My next project will be a crocheted blanket in spring colours.
The weather has been too bad to spend time in the garden although I should sew seeds indoors. Any suggestions?
I have been sowing broad bean seeds this weekend....and some mizuna and rocket seeds as well. I know what you mean about the weather...its still cold where I am, and the soil is so water logged due to so much rain :(
I have been weaving some new scarves, but I am looking at different ways to finish them off and have been playing around with beads to find a look I am happy with. I have also been knitting some 'stranded' cowls as well, which I may put on Etsy soon...
I pruned some shrubs last week but it was really cold on Friday. I hope they don't go into shock! The word drought has been mentioned south east of England. It always rains here when people use that word.
Thankyou Eureka, it's been a pain but the photos are paying off :) Because I'm taking them myself I get through so many, once i've done the initial sort through it's not so bad but when you first sit down with hundreds to go through...... *crawls under desk*
lol Sarah - I'm in Cornwall and I can confirm there is no shortage of wetness here either :)
....and today is the second soggy day in a row here, but I like it because I get to play in the art room and not feel guilty...I'm about 28 miles west of Tokyo and it's in the 40's...it snowed about 3AM last night. No gardening for me....I'm renting a condominium and land is at a premium here.
@Sarah, you sowing seeds already? I can put anything in the ground here until the end of April. We're quite high up and we can still get a frost up until then. It makes for a very short growing season and I find that quite difficult. Everything all needs to be done at once which is a pain.
@Cat, I think one of the reasons people are not too chatty at the moment is because the majority of members are in the US or Canada. I expect they'll wake up a bit later.
@Karen, mmm, I can see that's a daunting job. It is definitely paying off though.
Good morning ^^ :) What is every-one up to today? Any-one making anything? It is a sunny morning here in PA and I think I will clean up, take a walk and hang out with my little one :)
