I am etsy seller working for last 6 months. I play in teams and other activities to increase my shop visibility. I have good number of viewers but most of them are sellers not buyers. How I can invite more buyers? any practical suggestion.
@Deanna, it's probably because no one was able to answer your question. I'm sorry but I don't know anything about inventory tracking either.
@DeraTrustShop, you need to reconsider where you promote. If you only promote on Etsy, then mostly you will get other sellers' views. You need to start promoting outside of Etsy to get buyers to look and consider your target market. You could begin by using the website http://craftori.com. The focus of this team is to promote outside of Etsy via the website.
Has anyone tried Weheartit? It is similar to Wanelo I have seen a dramatic spike in shoppers and new people checking out my store that do not have stores themselves since i started. Check it out it is kind of fun and FREE
Thanks for all the tips!! My mom and I just opened our shop on Monday and are getting view but no sales yet this week, on Etsy, trying to gain our exposure and the tips are helpful!! Thanks!!
Deanna, When I found a need to track inventory because I have items in galleries, take things to shows, and have items on Etsy, I set up a system in Excel. Each new item gets a code with a letter for it's Etsy category and then a number. In Etsy I add the code to the end of the title. After the item is photographed, I attach a tag with the code and the price. In Excel, I track where the item is and can track when it sells and at what price.
@Camille, we do have a thread where you can follow people. It used to be called 'circle' but it's the same thing. It got rather buried but here's the link:
I just found out that I could not follow any more because I had reached the 2000 following limit. I went and unfollowed Tweeter users that did not bother to create a description of who they are. But other than that is there a way to make good choices on who to follow and who to unfollow to make room to follow others?
Do Etsy buyers look to see how long the shop has been in business compared to the number of sales?
I signed up for Etsy in 2009 but didn't actively sell until the summer of 2012. I only have 52 sales so I suppose I don't look successful at all if you think I started selling in 2009. Hmmm. I guess 52 sales since 2012 doesn't look much better.
@Rita, many sellers start again for that reason. I'm not sure how much notice people take of that. They'll look at reviews but I think if they want or need the item, they'll buy it regardless.
For Rita... you can always just mention that while you have been a member here for years- you just started selling on your about page or profile.. that way buyers who care will see.
I need to delete some items from Craftori.com that I posted a while back and have now sold… I think items need to renew every 4 mos. so I can no longer access these items in my craftori acct., in order to delete them. What should I do?
How much does the number of sales your shop have matter in the big picture? Here is my problem: Many times for me, a shopper buys the same scent of soap say...3 lemon, 3 orange, 3 tea tree. This counts has 3 sales instead of 9. Right now my shop has 33 sales but I have actually sold 60 products. Does anyone else..other than me :) have this issue? How important is the number of sales? Just need some friendly advice.
@Bobbie, Yes, good question, I've often wondered this myself. I guess as far as stats are concerned, you should look at it as a number of customers, rather than number of sales.
I do know though that people do look at the number of sales as some kind of benchmark of how good a seller's products are. Of course the number shown is not reflective of the actual items sold. I often sell several guides to one customer. I do think it's important.
@Suki, I'm not sure what you mean. Items that have expired on the Craftori site simply get deleted so you don't have to do anything. To delete items, click on 'my profile', then 'my posts', find the item and click on the title, then scroll down to x delete.
@Eureka-Thank you so much for the response. I am so glad you understood what I was saying. It is a huge problem for a shop like mine. Many people purchase soaps in 4's all the same scent. Thanks for posting your note. Bobbie
At shows, I am constantly teaching people why natural is better. I would like to start conveying via a blog or an email marketing like mail chimp. I have a bunch of email addresses from people who have signed up to receive info from me and product info. Which route is better a. Blog or email marketing?
Thank you Craftori for all you do in helping us promote our products.
@Bobbie, it's a pleasure. As far as blogging and email marketing is concerned, for best results, you should do both. Email marketing is very direct and can work really well but you have to give people free information, don't just spam their inbox.
@Eureka-I have plenty of info to share. Some of my soaps were named after real desserts that I make. I am going to give people those actual recipes so they can make the desserts at home. So far, I found mail chimp pretty easy to learn plus it is free :)
