Table Display for Frames

Hi all! Hoping for some ideas on how I can display my work this coming fall/Christmas fair season. I typically put my paper cut art into floating frames to display (as seen in my shop). In my past couple of fairs, I was pretty green and only had a few pieces on display, but as I'm growing, I want to display more of my work.

The problem is how to display multiple frames on a table while still maintaining decent sight lines with potential customers. I would do risers, but I've already had the domino effect happen with kids banging into my table, which is fine (albeit annoying) with the frames being directly on the table, but I'm afraid of what would happen if they fell from a height...

All of my upcoming shows are indoor, and the tables range from 4' to 8'. I appreciate any input!

Re: Table Display for Frames

Jessica, I sell framed artwork at some of my shows and I came up with a display that was more compact than using table easels. I purchased 2 metal lid dividers, which hold 8 frames each. They would be ideal if they were graded so each frame rose above the previous one. There may be a way to put something underneath each section to elevate it so it give a better view to customers. Hope this helps.

Re: Table Display for Frames

You could get grid walls and hang your art from those... you really do need to hang as much of your art as you can, frames sitting on tables don't do well, the customer can't see them... if you didn't want to invest in grid walls you could get some lattice from Lowe's and use those...

Kathryn, I'm not sure I know what you mean by "metal lid dividers", could you elaborate?

Thanks for the suggestion Shirley, I'm just not sure how I would transport walls in my tiny car...

Re: Table Display for Frames

I think what the gal above was referring to would be something like a desk accessory where you would put file folders upright on a metal riser. They can be elevated from front to back so that they would sit directly on the table, but the rear would be elevated by a few inches. It's hard to describe, but it's like a "waterfall" type of thing where the back is a bit higher than the front.

If you look at desktop file folder holders, you'll see what she's talking about. They're not especially expensive, and I agree, that might work. You could put several of them on your table and as long as you put the same size frames into each compartment, they would look pretty nice. And everything would show. So you could use one for 5 x 7 frames and one for 5 x 8 frames, etc. (Or whatever size you have.)

Hope this clears it up a little bit. I'm not really good at this (LOL LOL) I was only a legal secretary for years and had to use these dratted things all over my own desk all the time. I can't remember exactly what they're called, but desk accessories, and file folder holders would pretty much describe them. They come either solid metal or you can also find them made from very hefty metal, but it's a frame. I can envision that working for your frames.

To see what I'm talking about, just Google office supplies or Staples or Office Depot, something like that. Then search for desktop file folder holders. I'm sure you're gonna see what I'm talking about.
