Banners: Inside or Out?

I am thinking about moving my banner from my back wall to the top front of my tent.

Have you done this? What was the response you got?

(I know some shows are particular about this, but I have checked the shows I have coming up and there is no verbiage about the banners in the applications. )

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

I have a banner on the outside of my tent and signs inside too!
I personally think you need both.

I am glad that you posted this. I had a question about where to place a banner also.

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

I have my banner on the outside of my canopy. I have hang tags on all my stuff so my name's everywhere inside. Here's mine. http://pin.it/m5MYyya

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

We hang ours up high on the front of the tent, above where Jeannie has hers.
We made a big U shape out of metal conduit pipe, with metal elbows. It all comes apart and goes together easily so it can fit in the van, there are small screws at the joints.
There is a joint in the middle of the bar where the sign hangs.

The U shape is as wide as the front of the tent., and we use ball ties to lash the sides of the U to the front legs of the tent.

Then the banner is hung on wire loops we made from the pipe, metal shower curtain rings work too. If it's windy, then we switch to using bungee cords on the corner of the banners so the sign won't blow around.

Originally we used PVC pipe, but found it too droopy in the middle of the U, where the sign hung, so switched to metal pipe. Copper would work too, but would be more expensive. I've also seen shops that lash bamboo together to use as a structure to hang signs.

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

What do you think about using velcro to secure it to the canopy top? I was thinking about placing it about where Jeannie has hers.

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

April, Velcro should work just fine. The only problem I could see at all is that the sticky part of the Velcro could tear the canopy when pulling it off.....just a thought. I use small bungee cords and hook it to the hoops on the corners.

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

EZ Up tents have tabs to secure signs on the outside, which is where we put our sign. Depending on the show set up, we sometimes use another sign inside as well.

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

When I have a banner on the outside, people do look up and read what it says--on the back wall it's a bit harder to read.

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

What about placing a banner/sign to the table in addition or instead of overhead?

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

I don't think so Lisa. People can not see or read the banner when I have shoppers in the booth.

In the back of the booth or overhead is better since people can see the information from the street.

I also have a small banner I plan on hanging in the front corner of the booth. It simply says "Sterling Silver Jewelry". My hope is that people will see the sign and come in rather than glance and keep walking.

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

When you go to an actual shop, where is their sign? Kinda hidden behind everything and everyone in the back? No. It's outside.

I've always had my sign outside, front and center. So people are always sure about who I am and what booth they're entering.

It's actually a little pet peeve of mine when people only have a banner inside and in the back. Put your sign up front people, gah!

Ok, calming down now. It's just a sign. It's just a sign. :P

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

Lisa. The front of your table is also a bad place because it isn't high enough for anyone to see - from over there! As soon as a customer comes to your booth, they are blocking the banner anyway.
Front and up high is where you want it, IMO.

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

Thanks for the help. The banner I had in mind was too big for the tent top.

I was able to get one made locally that fit my tent top space! Yay!!

Here is what the booth looked like.

Re: Banners: Inside or Out?

April, that looks terrific - and I think it's both attractive and smart that your sign above your booth is echoed by the sign at the inside back. Visible without being heavy-handed. And your layout / color scheme is very handsome!
