The Cardiff Team

Since I did not find any Cardiff-based teams, I thought I should start one!

I am quickly discovering there is so much in Cardiff to offer us Etsy shop keepers. I am new to Etsy, and have lived in Cardiff for a couple of years now and would love to discuss and share knowledge about Cardiff and the experience of having an Etsy shop while residing in the City of Cardiff.

I am very much looking forward to hearing from other future members!

Re: The Cardiff Team

Hello! Thank you for the invite and for setting up the team! Such a good idea. I'm finding it a bit slow on Etsy at the moment but that's probably my own fault as have a couple of big fairs coming up and trying to keep stock for the fairs rather than putting things in the shop. Once the fairs are done I think I will be stocking the shop fully and trying my best to get as much coverage as possible through social networking. Looking forward to seeing what fun we can have with the team supporting each other!

Re: The Cardiff Team

Heey. Thank you for inviting me here.
I sell digital collage sheets and Etsy shop banners so won't be showing up in craft fairs near us lol. But looking forward to talking to everyone here about their crafts.

Re: The Cardiff Team

Hello,

Thank you for the invite, I am pretty new to selling stuff on here, have had a store mainly for my Knitting patterns but am now trying to sell my cards and calendars. I have some cards on sale in Inkspot but would love more advice on other places to sell them perhaps and about doing craft fairs as I have never sold in one before but am interested in doing so.
I will take a look at your shops now and follow them. :)

Yay! Thanks for the invite. I make ceramic gifts. Etsy seems a bit slow for me at the mo, although Folksy is doing ok for a nice change! This is such a great idea, love being in a 'local' team!

Re: The Cardiff Team

Wow this is brill, so glad everyone is excited about this team! Thanks all for joining and if you have anyone else you know from or around Cardiff, ask them to join too- the more the merrier!

Sorry if anyone received two invites... I went through two team lists and might have come across people twice.

Are there any fairs around Cardiff happening at the moment?

Magpie, which fairs will you be going to?
And Louise how's It going at Inkspot. Drove by there yesterday and thought to myself I must go in as I have never been in there! I saw they have a gallery too :)

Re: The Cardiff Team

Hello everyone!

Nice to see how many of us there are nowadays on here!!
I mainly sell handspun yarns and am always on the lookout for local successful craft fairs, which seems a bit of a challenge, to be honest. :)

Can't wait to get to know you all a bit better. :)

Re: The Cardiff Team

Hello everyone,
How fabulous to have a local team and thanks so much Britt !
I'm so looking forward to getting to know you all.
I only do a small number of craft fairs a year but I love to visit them and chat to sellers. I'll certainly let you know of any that seem good. I don't have any really good suggestions but what about the Saturday Craft Fair in Keppoch Street, Roath. It's a long time since I've been there but there were talented makers and they were a really lovely bunch.
I'm a bit erratic (sporadic?) on Etsy. I find it so hard to make enough 'stuff' to satisfy Etsy and shops I supply (as well as like many of us having a full time job) and I'd really like to know how others manage.

Re: The Cardiff Team

Hello everyone
It's lovely to see such a community in Cardiff! I've been on Etsy for about a year now but found it a bit sporadic. I make beaded and embroidered decorations. Most of my sales to-date have been to family and friends but I'm hoping to dedicate a bit more time to Etsy and Folksy in the run up to Christmas. Would love to do a craft fair at some point but need more stock first!

Re: The Cardiff Team

Hello everyone,

I've just joined with my photography shop. I have been on Etsy for a year now and find it a good place to be, but I think it needs some real dedication to get lots of sales on here!
Loving the fact there is now a Cardiff group! Good idea! Maybe we'll all meet up one day for an Etsy get together! :) Wishing good luck to everyone and their shops.

Re: The Cardiff Team

An etsy get together would be fun! I've been on here for quite a long time and yes, it takes time, but sales can be pretty steady. :)
It's always done better for me than craft fairs, but I still like doing the occasional one!
Last Sunday I was doing the mega market at Milgi (Northcote lane market), which was quite heavy on vintage, but still good fun.

Re: The Cardiff Team

Hello Quil and Cariad! haha! We seem to all be popping up in the same places, people will talk soon!

Britt, I'm doing a fair in Bath next weekend with Secret Tea Party, it's all on my Facebook page and I do one in Newport Riverfront Theatre. I had a look at the stalls in St Mary's Street Cardiff yesterday and it was bustling so would like to find out how much that is. I would also like to get into the fair at the Chapter Arts Centre as would imagine that is popular.

A meet up would be fantastic, I regularly meet up with sewing friends as have a sewing blog and it's fun and great for networking!

Re: The Cardiff Team

Mimi the St Mary's street ones are run by Craft Folk

http://www.craftfolk.com

sit down before you read the price list but they are busy, a man hubby knows sells with them (well him and his wife, she make's jewellery) they do very well
I've considered it but up until now haven't had the time to commit, little one started school next mont so am thinking of applying for next Christmas
that way i'll have a whole year to build up stock

am also planning a new direction with the clay

Re: The Cardiff Team

I've always seen these things but never actually knew how to get involved! This is such a great team!

I would absolutely love to have a stall around Christmas, but like you Cariad, I think I will have to wait and build up some stock (not to mention test the waters with etsy first and see if there is an interest to begin with!). I have been largely neglecting my studies the past 2 weeks and my boyfriend keeps reminding me that although this is all well and good... I have a day job too!

Is the mega market weekly? Is that the same as the market where everything is £1? And do they welcome non-vintage items?

There is also Made in Roath coming up in October, for anyone who happens to live in the Roath-area. I will be entering some photographs in that exhibition that I just started selling on city road (the frame factory). However you are only allowed to enter up to 4 items and each entry costs £10 :/

http://madeinroath.com/

I am contemplating selling some photos now on etsy as well... Does anybody have a variety of items that they feel do better than other type if items (like photos vs crafts)?

I would love a meet-up!

Re: The Cardiff Team

Hi Everyone!!

Yay, it's great to have a Cardiff team, thanks Britt! I sell my crochet patterns in my Etsy store and, whenever I get the time, I'll be adding knitting patterns too. I work full-time as a crochet designer / crocheter and yet never seem to have the time to get things done!

I also find that taking good photographs and editing them well is a huge nightmare. :(

Would love to have a meet up with all the other Cardiff Craftsers!!

Re: The Cardiff Team

Hi all! Thank you for the invite Britt. It's a great idea to have a local team, I am actually in newport but put Cardiff in my location as more people have heard of it, can I still play?;-)

I used to do a few craft fairs in Cardiff but must admit I got a bit lazy! It's hard work building up enough stock with tiny little seed beads so I have started concentrating more on patterns and have had a couple published but I would love to meet up with local Etsians!

Yay, a Cardiff team! I go to uni here and sell cross-stitch patterns etc on Etsy :)
I'd love to sell at a craft fair one day, but have no clue what I'd sell - maybe stitch up some of my designs??
