Hello Canadian Sellers!

My name is Nada and I'm the Seller Growth Manager here at the Etsy Canada office. This space will be used as an opportunity to connect directly with Canadian sellers. Thrilled about Direct Checkout? Have tips to share about shipping? Cool stories from your team? We want to hear about it! This is our direct line to you to discuss new announcements that impact Canadian sellers as well as opportunities for exposure!

Let's keep it positive and honest. Please do not use this space to promote your shop, there are plenty of amazing teams for that, but the purpose of this team is to keep it Canada specific.

Have suggestions for how to make this team awesome? Share with us in the comments below!

Hello,

Really excited to connect with other Canadian Sellers!! :)

I had the lucky opportunity to exhibit at the Etsy Market at the Calgary Stampede this year. Would be more than happy to answer any questions about that experience.

Wondering if any other sellers out there have signed up for a Wholesale account as well? To be part of Wholesale Etsy they make you change your shop to US dollars. I'm struggling with the exchange rate difference. Would love to talk to someone else going through the same thing.

Thanks

Kathy

A quick question for anyone who would care to reply. As a Canadian Etsy Seller do you carry commercial insurance for your shop?

I have come into a frustrating situation where my house insurance company will no longer insure my home because I sell on line. They require me to take out commercial insurance at $750+ per year if I want to continue selling on line.

I'm in the process of obtaining quotes from different insurance companies but would so appreciate if any of you who have commercial insurance could convo me with the name of your insurance agent.

Thanks so much!

Hello!

If you are in the Hamilton, Oakville, Mississauga area ... Here is a tip for reduced shipping for US & International customers. Another Canadian ETSYIAN told me about it.

You will save $$$! It is a courier service that travels to the US every other day. You can send your shipping addresses via email so that when you arrive for drop off all they need to do is look up the name & print off the label. There is a small charge for his service (the most I have paid is .70). They will also pick up parcels for you in the US & bring them across the border , also for a fee that varies according to the size.

Lea's Boutique .... Thank you for letting us in on this tip!

Happy Holidays

Great to be part of a Canadian team!

I have been testing DC for a while now and believe me it's going to make checkout much easier.

Etsy does offer members the opportunity to test upcoming ideas before they are actually implemented.

Direct Checkout has been a time saver and we have not had any glitches with it since using it.

Also, Marie-Claude Cyr thanks for posting great teams for Canadian Sellers, (see below) I will definitely be checking them out.

Want the Perfect Vintage Piece to add to your Home? Antique Mason Canning Jars are a great way to add some Canadian History to your Living Space by using the jars in a multitude of different ways for Home Decor!

A Small History on Crown Jars:

"It is virtually certain that the North American Glass Co. made jars embossed illustrated with crowns on the front... The Diamond Glass Co. and Diamond Flint Glass Co. were two in a series of Canadian companies (headquartered in Montreal) that began with the Excelsior Glass Co. In 1879 and culminated as Domglas in the 1990s...The Yuile brothers reorganized the Excelsior as the North American Glass Co. in 1883 and expanded the factory to increase production."

Has anyone here ordered form Fire Mountain Gems. I need to order a small amount of Swarovski Crystal (Don't want factory packs) and they seem to be the cheapest for what I need...BUT (There's always a but!) their $5 shipping to Canada may be USPS or it may be FedEX. I don't want to take the chance my $63USD order gets charged outrageous customs brokerage fees by fedex. Does anyone have experience ordering from them?
