CS and multiple items charges

How can I fix CS so it will not charge additional charges for multiple items? I sell jewelry, and can fit 3-4 items in a bubble envelope. The measurements for most of my jewelry items are usually 1.5" tall by 1/2" wide. I put the weight at 1 oz and the height (thickness) at 1/2" on most things. I am afraid that I am losing sales due to this. CS is great otherwise, and I hope this problem can be fixed. Or maybe you could add a way to make next item free shipping.

Thanks for your help!

Re: CS and multiple items charges

You cannot do this with CS. It is designed to go by weight for the postage cost and that can be difficult with very light items.

If you have your envelopes listed in package preferences and you have enough height on the envelope, the calculator will put multiple into one envelope

Be aware that the calculator does not read fractions below one inch at this time. So if you are putting a height on your jewelry of .5 and you can get 4 of these items in an envelope, then you need to make the height for that envelope 4 inches.

Re: CS and multiple items charges

I wanted to add that you need to check the weight of the jewelry, mailer, & packing.

I would think all of these would be over 1 oz.
A small bubble mailer alone will probably weigh over 1 oz not to mention the item you're putting in there.

Weight is total weight, item + packing, + mailer/box.

If you don't have enough weight listed on the item, you could end up loosing money on shipping since when you package the item to ship, you will be putting the total weight of everything when you print your shipping label.

Now sometimes I do fudge some on the weight but never to where I'm going to loose money on shipping.

You need the weight correct for 1 item so shipping cost will be right and you won't loose money.

Do you put your jewelry in a small box?
Some put that small box as the item size but you could use the item size as well.

Re: CS and multiple items charges

I just put 3 of your earring pairs in my cart and each time it went up by $2 which means you have a shipping and handling fee on your shipping profile and that $2 is getting added per order.

If you wanted to bring down your shipping cost for multiples you could certainly get rid of that or at least make it less.

Or, you can put the boxes and envelopes you use in Package Preferences and put a shipping and handling fee there. Fees put on there go on once per box or envelope - not each item.

if you put your fee on the box then the shipping would not go up each time an item was added.

You don't need a with another item option with CS, you just need to set it up correctly for multiples not to get charged or to get charged very little.

Re: CS and multiple items charges

I tried it out by putting 3 things in the shopping cart, and it worked for me. It just added the handling fee for each item.
I have been having CS charge double when people buy multiples. These items are extremely lightweight. One foreign buyer was charged over $16 for very lightweight jewelry. It should have been $8. The buyer took some time to purchase the second item, maybe it doesn't recognize that it is a second item. Or maybe they did each of the transactions separately.

I would like to try what you said here--
"Or, you can put the boxes and envelopes you use in Package Preferences and put a shipping and handling fee there. Fees put on there go on once per box or envelope - not each item."
Can you direct me to the page I need to do this?

I changed the height to 1", it would not let me make it larger than the length. Does that sound good?
I don't need the height too high since I do not use boxes in my bubble envelope, just wrap the item with bubble wrap and gift paper. My bubble envelope is 7" x 5", a custom size, not any Etsy size, but large enough for 2-3 jewelry items.

Re: CS and multiple items charges

Go to your Shipping Profile Page - you can edit your shipping profiles there, like if you want to take off that s/h charge per item.

Below the shipping profiles are the package preferences. This is where you enter your own envelopes - like your 7x5 envelope. What you need to do is add a height to that envelope - that is where you want to put a 3 inch height if you can fit 3 of your 1 inch height items.

That is also where you can put a s/h fee so it only goes on once per envelope.

If you still have Etsy Common Box sizes checked - be aware that if the calculator does not choose your envelope and picks from that etsy common list - no s/h fee will be added.

So if you are counting on the s/h fee for the box or envelope, you need to list all of your packing boxes and envelopes and uncheck the box to use Etsy common sizes.
