My new blog , is there anyone out there ?

Hi Guys , a month ago I started up an website to take the load of stuff I was posting on facebook , then less than a week ago along came the blog . This enabled me to refine it down even further . Would appreciate some feedback and some members on the site if you're up for it . I'm an artist and I would love to hear some opinions . The blog is basically a little gothic and will eventually take on info etc that backs up the artwork I'll be producing . Its not a vampire site but a celebration of how people remember and mourn loved ones and some of the myths and customs involved in that , memento mori , silhouettes ,portraits, cameo's etc . Please take a look and let me know , much appreciated Andrew http://annodominihome.blogspot.com/ Then the shop !

Hi!,
I checked out your site. Love the heart with spikes and chains.

I'm into the gothic aesthetic (minus the vampires), so here's my two cents.

I like the way the images pop against the black background, but I feel like the background is to engulfing as it goes from edge to edge. Maybe a border in a pop color? Or shades of grey on the edges? I can see a bit of the wallpaper border off to the side but it almost isn't there because of all the black. It might work if the wallpaper graphic is larger, but I would also like to see the border on the left side as well.

I definitely love the art, images. I'm now following you.

I really love your images! The silhouettes, and especially the Italian looking man with the laurel tucked by his ear - the third one on the Cover Art series. It looks like maybe you added some light around the postings - I think it looks very mysterious and befitting of your art!

Thanks NN , lovely of you to say so , i think I need to start putting in some more info , but I keep sounding like a dork . That's actually a portrait of Dante painted on an old Italian version of Dante's inferno . Most of the books relate to the cover images . Regards AD

Hi Andrew!

Sorry for not responding sooner, but I've been busy redoing my business and blogging plan! Checked out your blog (and am following to see how it develops!) Visually, the blog posts are awesome! I agree with ArcaneMuses comments on the background - the tiling is a bit detracting and distracting. Let me know if you need some help with that - happy to give you a free hand. Definitely work on some verbiage to entice and pique your audience's interest!

I've always loved that period of literature and art, so the whole concept really appeals to me. And btw, don't worry about sounding like a dork - if it comes from your soul, you will find people who like your style! If I didn't post everything that I wrote, reread, and thought I sounded like a dork in, I'd probably have about 5 posts up! I'm going to be trying to get some posts up on this forum about tricks for getting noticed, building good SEO etc., now that I have my schedule in a little better order. I've been (hanging head in shame) slacking in that regard. Need to be a better teamie!

On a side note, I've got a gothic/medieval space in my home that I'm thinking something like one of your pieces might work in. Now all I need is some sales to make it happen. Keep your fingers crossed that the sales fairy starts making it happen!

Good luck!

Karen

Re: My new blog , is there anyone out there ?

Hi Karen , thanks so much for the words . I've put a bit of thought into it over the last few days and I now think I know what my edge will be . I've done quite a bit of research into various stages and things that go along with the whole mourning process . My lastest blog is part of that direction . My strength lies in styling the images just as much as the artwork I do . It would be very easy for me to simply download heaps of old images to support what I intend to write , but that was one thing I'didn't want to do . So all the images that I'll put up will all be staged and styled by me . Everything from a gothic style dinner , to the wreath on the door , to how to trim a bonnet , to the special stationery etc . I'm actually really excited by it all , it gives it a real direction . So now all I need to do is put it all in order . We're talking at least 20 posts . Daunting . Some of the elements I've already collected are really fantastic . It'll be hard not to rush into it all . I've always been really visual , so the written word stuff , will be a real trial . But knowing there are lovely people like yourself ,Deb and Nancy will make it all more worthwhile . Much love Andrew X
