This is an off topic chit chat spot!

Im going to start with a set of my jars made it to the Home & Living main image and my views are crazy!! Im in shock my picture is there! Like I cannot believe it!! lol

Now if it could include some sales! ha ha!

I dont want to post in the main forum but, I had to share with someone! :D

I personally love the new look that is being tested out. I'm part of the test group this time around and I'm really satisfied with it. I think the best part is that my product pictures are slightly larger and I think the size does my images more justice than the original smaller preview. People seem to be so stubborn about change even if it brings about good results.

As for social media I'm focusing on blogging and Pinterest and I think it will stay that way for a while. I want to feel more comfortable with these two before I add on more.

How is it going out there?

I am still deciding what platform to have my website and shop on.

Over the last 2 years I have tried almost all the popular e-commerce platforms - paid as well as free ones - BigCommerce, BigCartel, Tictail, SquareSpace, WooCommerce, Prestashop, Storenvy etc. No sales on any of them when I tried for a few months.
I had my self-hosted wordpress website for a year, which ended up being a lot more work - reinstalling everything multiple times, updating software often etc. Spent around $450 on all these 'experiments'.

I am now leaning towards wordpress.com as security will be taken care, but I have to pay for domain redirecting, ability to modify the html/css, no advertisements etc etc and I won't be able to use any plugins.

It is almost like I am going in circles and not reaching anywhere.

I went in circles too way back when. Dont feel bad! :) You are not whiny just frustrated.

I even tried Wordpress and gave up on it for a couple years and used other platforms. I went back to it in the end because it gave me the options I was looking for, none of the other platforms gave me what I needed, like you I was frustrated.

I just get my update bubble and update. I swear you just had a bad theme/plugins... When I did have any problems it was always the theme or a crap plugin not Wordpress itself. Plugins can be bitchy and whack your site out! lol Ive paid for some 'dead' themes thats for sure too! Now I spend the time REally researching my theme. This last one took me at least two months to decide! lol I buy themes with all the bells and whistles so I dont have to use extra plugins and such. makes updating smooth.

Kelly, can we have just 2 or 3 pinned threads?

I look at teams from the team page, and click on the active threads. Since all the top 5 slots are taken by the pinned threads which aren't updated often, I usually skip. There might be a few others doing that too.

I agree with the comment above. I do the exact same thing and I think maybe it would be better to have less pinned threads.

Ok I'm going to present this issue to you guys because I don't know who else to talk to it about.

One of my pinatas has been "featured" on a blog for diy as a "project". The post says 'Join us and make one of these.' and mine is the last pinata mentioned.

The blog doesn't get very many hits at all (like, none) so I don't know if it's even worth getting into the drama of having the image taken down. That said, just like on Pinterest, it irks me to have my work used as DIY "inspiration".

Thoughts?

Mine are featured all the time in that way! lol Like All the time... Im on tons of DIY boards too! ha ha

I just let it go personally and take the traffic it brings me. some of those posts do bring me real good traffic/back linking! I know Ive had a couple sales from a post, international sales. Reality is most wont ever make it, its just the name of their board for crafty stuff they like and the blogger just wants content like we do. ha ha I receive TONS of traffic from those Pinterest DIY boards and I know Ive had sales there too.

Some that hit that post will have no interest in making it and may buy! Its also a back link to your shop. Sure their blog may not be busy now but it could be in the future. With the net the more you are out there in a non spam way the stronger you can grow.

I live by a pick my battles and thats not a battle I want to fight. Ive been around the block, been copied, stolen from, etc so Ive been able to let go of some things in life, its just not worth the fight. Im sure for others they would be fuming, years back I may have been too! ;)
