How to add social media links to tumblr blog?

Hi I just started using Tumblr and I just downloaded effective. I want to add links to my other social media platforms so that followers can follow me at those places too. But I have been unsuccessful. Whenever i add in my usernames and click on the link myself I get a broken link.

There could be a glitch in the theme.

A back up plan, you could create a page with all the links to your social media. add some pictures and make the page special.
