Here’s my newest scarf woven
from the wool of sheep on Orcas Island:

when the north wind blows, woolen scarf

a white stag
stood before her
just moments before
pausing on the steep
rocky path
lifting its head
toward her
to gaze deeply
into her eyes
a moment
in stillness
so stately and aware
she dared not breathe
it turned its head
listening
breathing
then burst away
and was gone
then she heard it
the rumble
the icy blast
tumbling
plummeting
down the
sheer mountain passes
as the north wind
descended
upon the land
bringing winter
to all in its path
