Shop Help!

I would love if someone could take a look at my shop and let me know what I could work on. I've had it since January 2011 and I've gone through some product changes. I've only had a couple sales over all and barely any views. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

(My banner needs work...I don't currently have a computer to make one.)

Re: Shop Help!

Ok! This is my first critique and I am a new seller too. :) But I read a lot about tips and tricks so here is my two cents ::

- Pictures: Your pouches are super nice (really!) but the pictures don't show them enough. I would definitely go with a white background. Personally, when I changed to white background, I was automatically featured in treasuries. Also, a close up! Some pics could show some pouches with phone, lipstick, etc. (as you do, good idea) and I would also do some close-ups to see only part of the pouch and see the fabric. All your pictures don't need to be white, but the first one is always very important to be attractive.

- Tags: You use all tag words and this is good. I would add some "conceptual tags". The name of your fabric for exemple "Sky Dots" or let's say, "spring flowers". These conceptual tags help people search for items related to treasuries.

- Descriptions: Your descriptions are good, you could add a link to your other pouches. (ex: "Want to see more blue pouches, here: with the link".

- I would definitively add more items in your shop, at least 10 items but more is better.

- Your shop title: This title is very important in Etsy's and google's (I think) search engins. It should reveal what is in your shop. (Ex: Fabric Pouches, Purses, Envelope Clutch :: Cute Fabrics and Original Designs)

- Your shop sections: This is also taken into consideration in the engins. So purse is good, but you could go more specific with "Fabric Purses". Always have in mind that someone can search "purse" and find a million different ones. You might have more chance to stand out in "Fabric purses" for exemple.

- Sale: You don't need to put a sale on right now. Your prices are good! New shops with few items at 20%, it sounds like you are desperate for a sale. (I know you are, we all are... but they don't need to know.) :)

- Finally, doing treasuries, being in teams, following people... be active in the Etsy community and it will come!

Voilà! Hope this helps. It is my opinion, I would be interested to see others. My first language is French so hope everything is clear! You have a nice product, continue your good work, it is worth it!

Marie-Claude :)

Re: Shop Help!

Thank you so much! I've been working on my shop for a couple weeks, trying to improve everything. I definitely have more products in the works.
I've just been struggling getting anyone to look! I have a Facebook page and a blog, but still wasn't helping.
I am going to work on the things you suggested!
Thanks! :]

Re: Shop Help!

Cute purses!
Hmm... well, first of all you need more items, especially of other types. I know I never use a clutch except for special occasions, but I'd love to buy a bigger purse from you, and I'm sure others would, too.
Second, you can always improve your photos! Yours look really great already, and consistent too, but maybe try with stronger lighting? Everything looks a bit dim, which makes your items really blend into the gray background.
Third, your tags may need a bit of work. I noticed you don't have any colors or pattern descriptors in them, but you do have "fabric" as a tag. If someone is specifically looking for a yellow clutch or a floral print clutch, which isn't that unbelievable, why shouldn't yours pop up? Furthermore, anyone who's searching for just "fabric" won't want to see your purses, they'll be looking for supplies for their own projects.
I will say that once your items are found, they do inspire confidence. It's a really good thing that you have measurements on your items, and shipping information. Don't stop doing that! (which reminds me, I need to START doing that...)
Hope this helps!

Re: Shop Help!

Nice advice guys!! Im pretty new as well, I opened in July and just started selling items at the end if September.

Could anyone give me any tips and/or critique my shop? I've had more fees in the past few days bc I have posted more items. But, my shop still isn't generating any sales?

Thanks guys!

Re: Shop Help!

Jen: I love the pics with the branche!

Daryl: I would recommend brighter pics and a neutral background, no carpet please. I love the floral clutch!

Re: Shop Help!

Great advice Maire-Claude, I agree with you!
I"m new to Etsy myself. When I started listing my items for sale, I used what I thought were great key words....they were not. I revamped, brainstormed, and came up with better words...it worked. Play around with titles, keywords, materials keywords. Your views and searches to your shop will come!

Re: Shop Help!

Hi everyone! Nice to meet all of you and read all of these awesome tips!
I am not very new, almost a year. I have had some sales, pretty decent views but still I am not booming as of yet.

I am always fixing things, changing pictures and I still have a lot of work to do. I feel my biggest issue is tagging, better yet giving things a proper title. It's actually not an easy task for me! All suggestions are amazing and I am always looking to evolve and improve.
Thanks!

Re: Shop Help!

I'm in the same boat as Daryl. I appreciate all the good advice here, too! Thank you, Allie, for the advice on the tags. I'm pretty befuddled about them, but your advice makes sense.
