Search

I have heard that SEARCH should be #1 . Mine was on top, but now it is 4th, with not very many searches. Your Listings, Your Profile, Your Shop, and then Search.
The first three have a good number.

I don't know what to do?

Re: Search

Hi Donna,

Search or SEO is based upon the tag words you use to find your items.

When you title your item, try and duplicate that in your search or tag words,

Try and think like a buyer?

What would you type in if your were looking for something you sell?

Earrings?
Jewelry?
Fashion jewelry?
Custom made earrings?

Google picks up the first couple of words you use in your title....

hope this helps.

hugs,
Angela

Re: Search

Hi Donna,

Your not going to like me very much...but for example:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/125727167/red-and-silver-beaded-dangle-or-drop?ref=shop_home_feat

I would list this as dragonfly lever back earrings, beaded lever back earrings. Maybe add the color at the end. List what the earrings are made of. Are they .925 sterling silver? Or rhodium plated?

If you can lighten up the background to white instead of gray your gorgeous earrings and necklaces will pop.

Jewelry is the #1 selling item here on etsy so the market is fierce.

You have to make your jewelry stand out from the crowd.

I feel I can tell you this because we sell jewelry too....

I have rephotographed everything at least 20 times ( I started out with the gray back ground too)

The best way to check all this out for your self is surf around etsy and look at shops selling the same type of jewelry you sell. See what their tags words are. Look at how they stage their jewelry. That's what I did in the beginning.

I hope you didn't think I have been too hard on you...because that was not my intention at all. I think you make gorgeous jewelry.....one other tip...raise your prices...their way too low....don't undersell yourself.....

Good luck to you!!!!!

Hugs,
Angela

Re: Search

Hi Angela,
Thanks for your help. I have taken pix over more than once. I tried to get rid of the gray by taking my pix outside on an overcast day. I think they are going to be better. Of course I have to find a day that it's overcast!

I was also talking with a photographer. He told me I should build a light box to get a true white.. Soooooooooooo I worked and worked on foamcore and built a light box. Then I put tissue paper on all the open sides. I then tried to pick it up and found my cat inside which tore up all my tissue paper!

After discussing this with him, and he ignoring me, I had to put new tissue paper on. Took forever! Well after I went to Wallmart and bought 2 lights and set it all up, took a pix and the background is YELLOW.

The photographer I was talking to said, he didn't know why my pictures were
yellow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, I will change my titles and see how that works.

Thanks again,
Donna

Re: Search

Guess who,

Looked at your jewelry. WOW! Looks like you use sterling. So far I'm not using it.

Re: Search

Ok...
you want my honest opinion?

Raise your prices on everything $12.00 to $15.00 dollars and offer free shipping.

For pictures: My husband got me an OTTLITE it is wonderful....it simulates daylight in the house.

You can use all that stuff....but what I do is edit my pics online. Use the Fix button.

Auto adjust for brighter pics. Then adjust your exposure> Brightness and contrast. (play with it, until you background is brighter than your jewelry)

I use a piece of white card paper stock for my back drop, and one flat with a small piece of wax to pose my jewelry for pic's.

For me it has been all trial and error....let me know how this is working for you?

I'm always here...
hugs,
Angela

P.S. Until you get your OTTLITE try taking your pics in the shade.

I have a cat too...and a pug!
