Our chat was great again yesterday. It seems to be very popular lately and that is great. It's a place where we can come to ask questions, leave a rant or just chat with someone.

Today, we're going to do something a little different. Let's have a Random Act of Kindness Day. Do a Random Act of Kindness for a Team Mate. Once it's done, you can either tell us what you did, or if you wish to remain anonymous, that is fine. In that case just type done and post it. I threw my back out yesterday and am in quite a bit of pain today. Kinda drifty at the moment, between muscle relaxants and pain meds, lol. Thinking of going to the ER this afternoon, if the pain doesn't go away.

Just to reassure you, Val - I'm just over the Mendip Hills from Somerset in Wiltshire! The Hills are our saviour at the moment, although one can watch the storms come over and we just wait and get drenched!

Brandon: I can sympathise with you wanting the rain - used to feel like that when I lived in Alberta. But believe me, after all the wet stuff we've been having, I'm ALMOST (I say that with reluctance!) looking forward to the white stuff for a bit! It's so relentless. My husband used to talk about the "pitter patter" of gentle English rain! Don't know where it went, because we now get torrential stuff, by the bucket full!!

I can appreciate with all the weather everyone is having. It's cold, but at least the sun it out. That's the great thing about being in the desert. It's almost always sunny!!

Being from western Washington, Isobel, I have a lot of days where I literally crave for the REAL rain, trees and green grass of what I consider is my true home. For now, it looks likes I'll be here with Natalie for a few more years. Fortunately, I get to visit Washington at least once every year. It helps clear the desert dust out of my system! LOL!

Hello from Oregon! Just a few months into my Etsy shop experience and I have a big question that I need answered. SHould I have TWO shops?

I sell baseball glove wallets, leather wallets, and items made from wased canvas.

However, I ALSO sell vintage finds.

SHould I have two shops or one. Two shop allow me to develope a brand for each segment of what I sell. But I keep thinking maybe ONE shop is better because someone may come to my shop because they saw a cool wallet but end up purchasing a vintage goody.

What do you think I should DO?

It is cold in Montana -22 this morning! I have learned some things today. So I now know my tags suck. I was using one word tags instead of two words tags. I so I have been changing tags. Got a long way to go with 68 items in my store. I have a question I am using barn wood for my background because it is western looking and my banner and business cards are done in barn wood. I was told my barn wood background sucks as it doesn't set a mood. I am wanting to be western and rustic it fits my product well I think. Looking for opinion's please! Now one gal told me to lighten up my pictures she thinks that will help. Any suggestions Please? I am an open to ideas please!

I've read through so many posts with the same snowy theme, I'm sure it's getting old for many. I am in FL so it has been in the 80's the past couple of days, just beautiful. I can't imagine dealing with all that cold and snow anymore and feel bad that my 3 girls are still up in MI with more snow than they have had in many years.

The random act of kindness was such a good idea, I think I'll carry that through into my daily life as well. Have a great evening everyone!

In your experience, is it worthwhile to pay to Feature an item, especially around a holiday like Valentine's Day? I do notice Featured items when I do searches to put together Treasuries, and sometimes I'll include them in the Treasury. But I don't necessarily click or purchase the items myself.

@Jacque I think just brightening up your photos could help. There are many free programs you can use online. I believe Mary has a photo program listed at the beginning of this thread. I agree that your wood background matches your jewelry and does give it that western feel.

@Lisa I have used this feature at Christmas and did have and increase in views but not through the search ads. I'm still not sure whether search ads helped my placement in general searches.

Jacque most people use their own faces as avatars so o mood setting there baut as far as your banner barn wood sets a country mood for me so I wouldnt worry too much about "setting moods" there are alot of people on Etsy who just need to find something to nitpick..

Lisa NEVER pay for the shop feature thing you are just throwing money away. We who have been here awhile call that the "newbie tax" for people who fall for the hype and waste money on that shop feature stuff. Just get active on the team and you will blow out of the water any benefit you would ever see by those ads!

Dan it is completely up to you. I couldnt do 2 shops and have a real life. If you want to make both shops successful it will take ALOT of time and commitment not to mention the time you will need to put in promoting your new shop while keeping up promotion on your old. Then again being a member of this team will help you shortcut some of that since you have info available and a team of people to help the promotion process..

Dan, I don't think you necessarily need two shops. I sell vintage, digital art and an assortment of products. I have been on Etsy for 4 years. Two shops are very difficult to promote.
