Hey guys! This is your captain speaking! I've decided to host a contest for team members.

What can you win?
A $20 Etsy gift card that I will award to the best idea. The winning contest will also be our official team contest and you will be credited every time.

Contest Deadline: February 20th 11:59PM

What do you need to do?

I'm looking for ideas that would be a weekly contest we can run for team members. Naturally, the contest must involve treasuries, team members somehow, and an incentive for people to want to compete/win. The ideal winner won't be a repeat contest from another team but something that sets our team apart.

You can either post your idea here or privately message it to me if you want to keep it private. I will decide a winner within three days of the end of the contest and award the winner the gift card when it is announced.

Keep in mind that this team will continue to expand and the creator of the treasury contest will be recognized every time the contest is ran. So.. this is also a chance for huge exposure for your shop. Get to thinking because the contest starts....

There is a game that really worked. It's called the 16 treasury game. The first 16 shops to sign up must make a treasury featuring 1 item of each shop on the list. There must be deadlines to make the treasuries. In one week I was featured in 16 treasuries, and had increased my sales. Maybe the game could be modified and make specific themes for the treasuries.

The 16 treasury game is a good idea, however, it would have to be 17 shops to sign up. This way each person would be able to make a treasury with 16 shops not including yourself.

Those who wish to participate can make one all Extreme Team member treasury and whichever treasury has the most views, comments, and favorites would win the prize. There would have to be a deadline to have the treasury done and a cut off to count the statistics (maybe even some type of averaging system) on each treasury entry. All those who participated would promote an item from the winners shop by favorites, facebook, twitter, pinterest, a treasury featuring an item, etc...

The one I like most is a weekly challenge.
-- You sign up on a list and you must use 8 items from the shops on the list for a treasury . It's easier, allows more creativity.
-- You get promotion, treasures and fun! The more shops on the list the better (usually the maximum is 40 shops)
-- The winner can choose an item and/or theme for the next week.
-- Of course when posting all must fav, click and comment on 5/7 above.

How about a "Extreme Theme" Treasury Challenge weekly.

Each week the previous winner would choose the "Extreme Theme for that week.

Sign up would be as many as you would like.

Examples:

1. Extreme Theme Spring Cleaning

2. Extreme Theme Colors

3. Extreme Theme Seasons

4. Extreme Theme Holidays

5. Extreme Theme Vintage

6. Extreme Theme Vacations.....

Players would have to promote the 5 treasuries above the one they post.

Theme "In One Word" - Team captain chooses ONE WORD that can be interpreted in many ways. Each Week is a new WORD to inspire the next treasury Then each member creates a treasury that is a visual representation of that word.

RULES SHOULD INCLUDE:
* A deadline to submit the treasure
* Choose from Extreme Treasury Team shops and
maybe even include one shop not on the team
* Captain chooses how the treasury wins : Favorites, views, comments?
* What do they win?

RULES COULD INCLUDE:
*Select items from at least (#?) different categories: ex. Jewelry, Sculpture, Vintage, supplies
*List a full treasury - 16 item and using all keywords
*The winner could choose the WORD for the next week. The winner could participate but maybe should be exempt from winning that week.

I like the "extreme theme" and the "one word" ideas. I have the worst time naming treasuries. Maybe somebody could come up with a game to help me out with that. LOL!

I also thought of somethings:

a. treasuries with a story - the topic of the day could be a movie or a book to illustrate with items

b. treasuries based on a letter - all items should begin with the same letter:
example: J: jewelry, jelly, joy, jad, jars, etc.

c. names of the treasuries made by the team in a day should compose a phrase:
example: " the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"
you can either make a treasury with "brown" or "fox", or "dog" or "jumps", or "quick" meaning speed.

d. we do treasuries normally but when we post it we launch the new theme for the next member of the team who wants to make a treausury.

ex: i make a treasury named: " I like spring because..."
the next treasury will have to complete the phrase " because it's my birthday..." and also launch a challenge for the next treasury : "...and i always celebrate in the mountains" etc.

Wow... What a great idea, wish I could come up with an amazing idea... My first thought was a Weekly Theme, too.... Very excited to read all of the ideas everyone is coming up with, maybe they'll spark some inspiration for me & i'll have an AHA! moment myself.... I have a few ideas..

1. The newest thing on Etsy's front page is "Trending Items". Have a contest with some, a few or many of the item types there (not necessarily the items featured). Of course tag all treasuries with our team and this would be good exposure since these items are already "hot".

2. Make timely treasury themes ie: St. Patrick's Day is coming up and so is Easter and Spring. Make a contest with a theme that has either a direct correlation or an offshoot of the upcoming event or season. Example: Spring - April Showers, blooming, pastels, etc.

3. Pick a color or 2....I know this has been done before but most front page treasuries are color based, not just random items chosen. The hue can even be chosen, such as Delft Blue, or Peachy Pink

4. A treasury with half members, half others. This way people outside of our team can see our items.

Here are some ideas:

Styles: You know how we get to tag the style of our creations, i think this could be fun. It would make us discover what some styles are. Ideas: bohemian, shabby chic, victorian, art nouveau and so on.

Stories: Pics items, they can be random from teal members and build a story from what you have chosen. it can be silly, dark, mysterious, etc. get creative! maybe you can do a CSI type story, or maybe create a fairy tale. I just noticed that some of the items have sold out, but you can still get a good idea. guaranteed entertainment each time!

And last idea, make a treasury that builds on itself. Each consecutive item must be related to the previous! This would be an extreme challenge.

A contest that rewards the winner of the previous contest by promoting both an item from their shop and also their shops product line. For example if the winner of the previous week had a jewellery shop, each treasury in the following weeks challenge should include one item from the winning shop, and the rest of the items in the treasury should be jewellery from other shops. You could include a minimum number of extreme team members, and a note at the bottom inviting others to join the team. The result would be exposure for the team, exposure for the shop of the member with the winning treasury and the opportunity for team members to explore items they might not normally look for as they explore etsy as each week would be a different craft or art form as it's theme!

Hello everyone!

This is a game similar to the one we play at one of my other teams - 100 views or a SALE.

I've changed it a bit to include exclusively creation of treasuries. I enjoy it a lot because it allows for creativity and is a great promotional tool.

We help each other with promoting a specific item from one's shop to get views (exposure) and hopefully a sale.

We have to compile a list of those that are interested in participating and use Random.org to select the shop who will have an item featured first. The goal is to get the item to 100 views (from where the item started, therefore if they start with 24 views we want to get it to 124 views) or a sale, whichever comes first.

Each participant would have to create a treasury list with the selected item. Also, each participant would have to share the item on social media (Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Etc.) of their choice to promote it further.

All created treasuries with this item will use tag: Treasury Extreme Team.

Once we create a treasury and share the selected item, we would have to report back to the discussion (Fave'd, Pinned, created a treasury with the link, etc.). This is how we can keep track of those who participate and who are eligible for the next run.

Once we have the momentum going the next item will be selected from people participating only!

To make things fair, We will wait 5 shops before the same shop can be selected again.

This Challenge is not my own creation, but it is an idea that I am advocating for our team because it results in beautiful, heartfelt, well thought out, and very appealing treasuries. I personally get tired of participating in games and challenges which create not-so alluring results that I sometimes even cringe at being represented by.

The challenge works like this: Every week the winner of the last week is the featured shop of the current week, as well as the judge of the next winning entry. The featured shop chooses an item from their own shop (or if they do not have a shop, they choose something from another team member's shop) to be featured by others for the entire week.

These treasuries are tagged as well as list a link to the challenge and a short blurb announcing the featured shop. The other 15 items in the treasury can be from anywhere on etsy to help spread the word about our team to others who are interested in being involved. At the end of the week the featured shop chooses a winner.

It is courtesy to click and comment on all treasuries in which the winning shop is featured throughout the week. We are all in this together, helping one another promote our aspirations, after all!
