Does anyone use promoted listings in their shops?

I do promote my listings in my shop. I am constantly reviewing my analytics and adjusting my daily budget to make sure it is a profitable option for me.

I started my shop in April of 2014 and didn’t make my first sale until August of 2014.So if you are new to etsy or just starting out be patient, keep improving and keep at it.

I started using promoted listings in October of 2014 and have ever since. I adjust my budget depending on time of year.

I have found even having a low promoted listing budget helps me to get my items higher in the search results on etsy and more easily noticed on etsy.

Let us know what you think of promoted listings or other ways you have found to get your shop noticed….

I haven't tried promoted listings. I wasn't really sure what they did until I read the link. BTW thanks for the link, Katie.
Can you give me more of an idea about how much it cost?
And is it really worth it to promote my listings when I have so few (12) I'm working to fill my shop up, but it feels slow. I'm also selling a few things offline that take up my time.

Thank you for your feedback! I didn't use promoted listings at first either I probably had around 20 or so listings when I first started with it. But I think they can be helpful.

I was apprehensive at first because I didn't really know much about it. So I started my budget out slow like $3 a day. During busy times and prime season for my shop August-Feb. I do quite bit more.

You can stop it at anytime so thats a plus too if its not working out for you!
Your pillows are adorable & I love the rugs too! They would make great mother's day gifts so you might try a low budget to promote them for mother's day, since its just right around the corner & then if its not working out for you you can always adjust or stop it.

Hi. I am newer to etsy and found what you said to be helpful. I am not sure my budget would allow to have my listings promoted because my inventory is still low. I would love to start this when I get a few more things up. Thank you!

Thanks for this! It really helps. I was worried since I have only had one buyer so far. I constantly check my stats and listings- thinking maybe things are priced to high but then I worry I have them too low.

Thank you all for all your feedback! It seems like things started off slow for me too. Just keep at it, keep working hard and be patient and it will happen. I remember the first time my phone went cha-ching! I was like what is that! And then I was like OH MY GOSH! My first sale!

I got my first sale yesterday...... I was at a funeral (It was a very distant relation) when my phone notified me. I was able to keep my composure until will left, but it was hard!

Hi! Just wondering how long it typically takes for a sale? I've had my shop open for a few days now and no one is even looking at my listings. I'm getting a bit discouraged.. Am I being too impatient ? Are my prices too high? Thanks! Jeannie

It took me 2 months to get my first sale on etsy. I still only have a grand total of 3. Lol. But ..... Perserve. Do you have a fb page for your shop? or instagram? They might help to draw some attention. This team is a good place to start too. The more listings you have the better. Katie might have some good advice. She has more experience.

Welcome to the team!
I just checked out your shop! And I love love your star wars pillow!
I joined at the end of April of 2014 and didn't have my first sale until august of that year. So patience is key & lots of listings! Make sure on your listing you have all your key words filled out to! Keep listing and stay active on etsy. The more people who look at your items and favorite them helps to get them up in the viewing results too! Also social media is a great way to advertise. I don't like bombarding my personal friends with my crochet so I made a seperate business page on Facebook for my etsy account. Also, instagram and pinterest are a great place to advertise. I don't use twitter personally but it can be a great tool too! Also you may consider making a shop icon and a shop banner for your shop. canva.com allows you to design shop icons and shop cover/banner photos with lots of free options that don't cost.

Thank you so much Katie! You did help..:) I was afraid to make more things because I didn't want to end up with a lot of stuff hanging around. I figured that if someone wanted something, they'd let me know. Now after talking to a good friend of mine, and taking your advice, she also told me to have more variety. So I think that's what I'll do.. I just purchased more material & many patterns that were on a huge sale at our local fabric store. So I have a few ideas... I'm so glad you like my pillow! Thank you! I made it for my husband. He loves it..I guess I'll just have to be patient.. It's not easy tho..lol! But if it works out, then it'll be my second job. I did read the sellers handbook about the pricing.. Learned a few things. Not to be afraid to have a higher price tag on my items.. Things take time to make. I am doing free shipping bit will make sure that my price is high enough to cover that along with the materials... Again, thank you & i look forward to getting to know you also!

I tried this week and actually didn't get any clicks from my promoted listings. I did get clicks from people searching though. Might try again more toward the holidays.
