Important Message from Etsy and Pinterest

Hey guys, Etsy just contacted me and said that Pinterest has requested that we stop doing repinning circles.

They said specifically:
"Re-pin exchanges can greatly effect the metrics on the site, and falsely inflate the popularity of an item."

Thus, as team captain I have decide to close all threads for repinning items. I think that we can still pin each other, but we should do it in a natural way. If you see an item you love, pin it! But we won't be exchanging pins with each other any more.

This isn't the only team that does it, there are 100s of pinning circles on Etsy teams and this must be the root of the problem.

I find that confusing as well, we are such a smaller and inactive team compaRed to other teams I'm on, it's seems weird.

I can understand. I do think we could keep a thread that encouraged us to pin one item from the shop above. That would be more natural, as the pinner would be choosing which item to pin of interest. Sarah, what do you think about that? -Becky

I agree with the above statement. I have never pinned things that didn't interest me anyway, but I have pinned from several shops here on etsy.

I think you are right, we could do a pin the shop above thread.

But, I don't think people should ask for a certain item to be pinned. It needs to be natural selection.

I kinda agree with that, I am on another team where they do pin 5 things above you, and sometimes I find myself pinning some things to a catch all etsy board, because I don't really want that thing on one of my boards.
